The combat is so much more complex in HFW, especially if you focused on melee, that when I returned to HZD a few months ago I just obliterated everything in sight. I had to impose artificial limits on myself on UH difficulty just to give myself a challenge. It's unbelievable how much easier Thunderjaws are in HZD once you've mastered them in HFW. Watchers are still a PITA though.

I just did the same it was fun. Tip- set game to "story" mode, dash to "Frozen Wilds " get their General bow and dash back to starting point of game and begin game with a much nicer bow .

We get a full and complete remaster for a $10 upgrade for what was initially a PS exclusive in the same week that we get a completely barebones RDR1 for full price without a single remaster/upgrade beyond view distance. It's appalling to see how poorly Rockstar handled the RDR1 port when we can see how much of a huge jump in graphics and improvements can be made by a dev company that actually cares to see their game improve.

maybe I'm the only one who's that fussy but I don't like the fact that aloys hair in the Remastered is as long as it is in hfw. I always liked the theory that it grows over the time when she searched for a GAIA backup. Because she had no time to cut it.

I did too my very first time playing the game. When the developers finally unlocked the frame rate for the PlayStation 5 that's when I gave it another shot. That made all the difference in the world to me at the time. Playing a game like this at 30 frames per second is just torture.

Get the game in a bargain bin for $10 then by the $10 upgrade . I see used HZD for cheap all the time. Pawnshops' or eBay or GameStop bins.

I hadn't played it in several years so I started fresh (but with New Game+). It looks amazing, but there are some bugs they probably need to sort out. Some characters that interact with Aloy can be glitchy and some seem to show a lower framerate within the high framerate (it looks as weird as it sounds). Also they clearly improved mouth movements but they seem a bit forced and unnatural during conversations with characters in the game.

The customizable difficulty seals the deal for me. I always wanted to play on the hardest difficulty but I didn't like the increase in merchant prices. That just made it more grindy.

I'm using the remaster to do my Ultra Hard play-through... from scratch! No imports, no running through on easier difficulty first. It's a blast and so beautiful. At first I was like, eh graphics quality hasn't changed that much. So I booted up the original HZD... oh my gosh. It's night and day. I took some side by side pics for comparison. Really is amazing how much extra colour and detail the remaster has.

@@Carlile123456 That's the main issue I have with the account linking. If Playstation accounts were available in all regions, it really would be no different than Ubisoft and Rockstar requiring accounts to play their games on PC. I'm not a fan of needing those accounts, but having that stipulation doesn't prevent millions of consumers from being able to play the game in those cases. I'll probably upgrade for the simple fact that I haven't finished the game yet, and I already have a Playstation 5, so I don't need to make a new account to play the game on PC. It looks like a substantial enough upgrade that it will be worth $10 for me, personally, to experience a better version to finish my playthrough.

Yes I got it since it was only a $10 upgrade for me. One big change I noticed that I'm surprised you didn't mention is the grass deforms just like it did in forbidden W. When she walks on foliage or short grass you can literally see the grass getting deformed and a trial left behind from where you've been walking. Especially if you crouch walk.

In Australia the upgrade price is $15, not letting that put me off as I have played through the game a couple of times and thoroughly enjoy it. It is one of those rare games that allows noobs and experts to enjoy the same game due to it having good difficulty settings. Definitely going to get this upgrade. Thanks for the review..

Well it should be said that while the changes over the initial PS version are definitely visible it is not that much of an upgrade for owners of the PC version. Most of the enhancements in the remaster were already present on the PC version release of the complete edition. So the changes feel way more marginal there. Then again you can get it for just 10 bucks if you own the original on PC - which seems fair.

I love that you could remap the mount button from triangle to square so its more like Forbidden West and you wont accidentally dismount while looting.

The only accessibility setting missing that I would want is keeping the camera left-aligned. I set this way in Forbidden West and it's hard to go back to the dynamic shifting one. Hopefully an update will rectify this, admittedly small, issue I have.

I'm surprised that STILL no one is talking about some of the story level tweaks they made. It's definitely not quite as gritty in some places. For example, the first ruins you go into as a child, they remapped some of the bodies that you find, and definitely lessens some of the shock you feel of "WTF happened to this old world?" at the beginning of the game.

This is what I call a remaster 100% . They took the formula and gave quality of life improvements. Plus, they upgraded everything without destroying the identity of zero dawn. They didn't need to add everything from forbidden west, just some additions. Overall since I haven't played in a this game a long while feels awesome just to revisit.

Definitely going to pick the up the upgrade. I haven't finished either HZD or HFW yet (been distracted with other games) but one of the major reasons I didn't get furter in HZD was the little things with graphics. Since it's only 10 bucks, it's an easy buy for me. Maybe that'll give me the motivation to pick it up again and finally finish it. I didn't purchase PS5 for this remaster or HFW but I have both on PS5, so... Definitely gonna buy the remaster and try to finish both games. I like the mechanics in HFW more but I love the story of HZD more.

The game plays on the base PS5 at 4k/60fps . The game has no Ray Tracing so it will not play any better on a Ps5 Pro .

For playstation users... if you like the Game this is a must have. 10 Bucks is literally nothing for how good they improved an allready brilliant game. It can almost keep up with forbidden West in terms of looks but it runs even better. They once again produced a banger. When they revealed that the remaster is coming, i thought we wouldnt need it. It would just be some upsccaled 4k textures or so. But what they really gave us, is something i definitely needed.

The lighting in Meridea is also updated. You have time of day lighting and shadows. Also, you are way better at the game than the guys who played it at Digital Foundry. They kept missing easy shots on watchers. I am impatiently waiting for the game to get the $10 upgrade for my PS4 version. My brother will have to be annoyed with me playing it again

Gameplay modifier is a big reason I might actually give it a shot I hated the forced stealth when I played it back in 2017 and how much damage she can take But now I feel like I’m playing it how it’s supposed to be For reference Damage to aloy: change it to easy or story (you will notice the difference immediately) Damage to enemies: hard or very hard (makes the game almost hack and slash) If FW adds this im def giving it a shot but as of now ZD might actually be enjoyable after all 😂

For your all information. If you have a VRR TV or Monitor and use the performance mode, the 60fps lock is gone. So 70 to 75 fps is targeted now. 🤟
