This song is so well written that is not ONLY a song for a guy who is in love with a girl. A father could DEFINITELY feel the lyrics and the "sadness" of watching his "little girl" about to get married. And feeling that there's a new man, a new love in his daugther's life

Perales said that this song was not for his daughter, in that time she was only 3 years old. In fact this song was originally composed by him for another artist: Julio Iglesias, but after finishing it, his company thought that the song was so good and he should keep it and sing it himself (which he did :D ), he also added that the song was for "adults" whatever that means. He didn't know what was the reason behind the story (the request from Julio)... thanks for the reaction man. (Just to add to the story: Julio Iglesias was going through divorce in the time.. )

I love this song. The first couple of times I heard this song, I thought the song was directed at a wife who had an affair. It turns out Jose Luis Perales dedicated his song to his daughter. After I found out the real point of view, I now get teary eyed every time I hear it. For those who don't speak English, the singer is saying "And how is he? Who is he? He, who has stolen everything from me?," because his daughter is about to get married. It's always been one of my favorite Spanish songs.

It’s actually not about his daughter, thou it might sound like it. José Luis wrote this song for another artist, since his wife was divorcing him to be with someone else. At the end, he didn’t want to sing this song, so José Luis sang it..creating this beautiful masterpiece that became a hit soon after.

I remember as a young girl hearing this song on one of my trips to Mexico. It's such a beautiful, nostalgic song. It wasn't until a few years ago that I discovered who the singer was. He's recorded 27 albums and 50 million copies sold. This is one of those songs that hides in your soul and years later pops up. He was a songwriter way before he began singing. He used to write songs for people like Julio Iglesias, Miguel Bose, Isabel Pantoja, Ricardo Montaner. Marc Anthony is a huge fan and you can find a KZbin video of them singing this song together at the music festival in Viña Del Mar (Chile). This particular song he initially wrote for Julio but he was encouraged to keep the song and sing it himself. So glad he did.

I just read someone's comment and apparently it is about his daughter and the man she's going to marry and it's breaking his heart to let go now that she's all grown up. But I will say this... My mother is Spanish (not Mexican) and Sicilian. European. My father Native-American. What I do know about the Spaniards is... They take to heart very deeply when they have to let their daughters go. And are very deep-hearted, ckose-net family. And Wow!!! You can speak Spanish very well. LoL Awesome!! Awesome Reaction.
