CustomGuitarVideo.com José Romanillos became famous by building the guitars for Classical Guitar Virtuoso Julian Bream. He his one of the last icons in Spanish guitar making tradition. He wrote numerous books about the Spanish guitar and the man who defined the classical guitar as we know it today, Antonio de Torres. We spent a whole week in Següenza, Spain close to Madrid to document his last guitar. This film had been made by the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art. Gourmet Guitars restored and digitalized this old 1980 master-piece. It is an extremely rare film-document, well worth to be preserved for future generations. What a craftsman. I was mesmerised watching how quickly and accurately he works, especially where he was shaping the neck by paring away the wood. One slip and countless hours of work goes down the drain. Just brilliant.

Absolutely, I just finished the two parts of this little documentary and to see the skill he possesses is just awe inspiring using a knife to pare away at the neck it's kinda funny when you see how the larger companies do it. Not a electric tool in sight.

Today, i think hand crafted guitar should be assisted using CNC machine to crave the shape of the neck and the body to speed up the process ..making them cheaper in term of time saving. Time is money. Money is time.

Yeah you are right time is money, so a CNC Romanillos will cost 1000 USD

there already are guitars built by cnc machines. they're called "factory made" and not "hand crafted".
