Jose Jesus Lopez - The Early Years Part 1

This video is about JJ's early years in Los Angeles, and to tell of his ancestors, his family was here since the beginning of Los Angeles. I'm fascinated with his story, and have been fascinated with early California history since I was young. Possibly since I saw The Wonderful World of Disney and Zorro, with stories of early Los Angeles. I'm still quoting JJ from The Saga of El Tejon book.

Even though familiar with the Lopez family history I found these videos on J.J. Lopez really engrossing and helpful to visualizing that history (and beautifully so). In your narration, are you quoting J.J. Lopez's memoir in the first person as published in the Tejon Rancho history book? I'm a little confused because at first I thought you were referring to your own ancestry!

Hi Bill, Thank-You! Yes, this is all from The Saga of Rancho El Tejon, I started to write it in my own words, then I thought I'd let Jose tell his story. I though people might enjoy it enough to read Frank Latta's book. No, I'm not related, I'm originally from Canada. I don't have a trade, I've done a lot of different things, mostly focusing on my writing and music. Enjoy your day!

David, I get it You have forebears in old California going back to the 1700s who originally from Spain via Mexico but it was part of Spain I visit California periodically as I have family in the Beverly Hills Los Angeles area and in Carlsbad

Wow, I had missed out on this one....... fascinating history!!!! Your family history is almost as fascinating as my own, or probably even more. Wow, both our parents were Lopez??? And there was a Maria Francisca like me too. Your roots were over here in Europe, some of mine in Canada. My ancestors were the last French governors of Quebec. Great video....

Hi Francisca, Thank-You very much Francisca from Cristina and I!! This isn't my history, but a local vaquero's from the 1800's. I'm quoting from a book written about him. I started to re-write his story, but thought it'd be ok to let him tell his own. I like his sense of humor in some of it. He grew up at a local Stagecoach Station etc, currently under 1 of our reservoirs. I'm researching more about it, but also working on my L'amour Fan story. 🙂
