JOSE MARI CHAN SONGS w/ lyrics

Jose Mari Chan is a famous Filipino singer and an excellent songwriter. He is considered as one of the most foremost popular music writers of the Philippines. His songs were very popular nowadays as it was on 1960's. His pseudonyms were Joe Mari, Mr. Music Man or the Filipino Jimmy Web.
He was born on March 11, 1945 in Iloilo. His father is Antonio Chan and Florencia Chan was his mother. He studies college and graduated in Ateneo de Manila University on 1967 with a degree in Economics. He is married to Mary Ann and has five siblings.
Released his first hit single, "Afterglow" in 1967. He entered the mainstream of the Philippines music industry in spite of the influence of foreign acts as the Beatles and the Beach Boys. He released his first album in 1969. For more or less than four years from 1970-1974, Jose Mari Chan was able to compose more than 20 songs for movies and earned him different recognitions and nominations at the FAMAS Awards. He stayed for more than 10 years in United States but still keep on composing songs and some of them were recorded by foreign artists.

Jose Mari Chan is the most wonderful and sincere person I have ever met . . . Rose & I were having a mid-afternoon snack at the Paseo Uno, Mla Mandarin, sometime in late 90s, when I saw Jose Mari Chan in a separate table in a meeting with an Associate. We waived at each other so Rose thought Jose Mari was one of my Japanese friends at the FUJI Xerox Office. So, when we sat down, I corrected her to the person next table is Jose Mari Chan. So, Rose started singing to herself one of Mari's popular songs . . . "Deep in my Heart". We must be that close to Mari's table that he heard Rose singing his song. He started to pick the song while still seated, stood up, approached us to finish the Duet with Rose. So, I finally had to introduce Jose Mari and Rose, inviting Joe to sit down with us. He was just too glad when I refreshed him I was the one the Emcee who introduced him when he was our guest, with starting up Regine Velasquez, at our Motorola Employees Affairs. Of my God, it was a long lost Reunion that Mari and I started exchanging notes on his songs . . . even signing another song with Rose . . . The Mla Mandarin waiters had fun just oggling how we were enjoying ourselves with Jose Mari's music. When it was time to go, Joe had to beg off . . . but asked for my Business Card . . . because he had a special CD limited only to special friends that will be ready in a few weeks times. He wanted to send me a copy to me . . . He mentioned they were the songs that he used to hear from his grandparents. I'm used to politicians and famous people giving those empty "political" talk so I did not have much expectation that Joe's CD will come. Having a good time singing some songs in private with him and recalling indeed that we knew each other was good enough . . . About three (3) weeks after that chance meeting, I got an LBC package . . . when I opened it, there indeed was a freshly burned CD from Jose Mari Chan. I was so touched . . . Jose Mari taught me one thing . . . be sincere and fulfil your promise(s) no matter how casual was the occasion of friendship . . . I was even shocked that among the songs in the cherished CD whose tune I have always wanted, having heard it being played by some sentimental announcers - Eddie Ilarde or the late Helen Vela - whose Title I finally learned, with Jose Mari Chan cutting some appropriate Lyrics to make it even sound lovely - the Song "High and Mighty" . . . Listen to this Songs because it may be one of those Songs which you always were touched but never knew what its Title is . . . Mabuhay ka, dear friend . . . Jose Mari Chan
