Jose Rod, a name that is synonymous with Goans, made plenty of memories. In this rare video Jose Rod performs on stage after 10 years without a show.
Writing on his fabulous performance Agnello A.S. Fernandes who was influential in convincing Jose Rod wrote, “Thank you for agreeing to be ushered to the stage by my grandchildren Kyle and Kiara. There is no bigger joy and satisfaction to any grandparents to see their own hereditary, ushering a star of Jose Rod’s calibre back again to a platform that was pained by his absence.”

The show, a tribute to legendary Goan musician and lyricist Chris Perry, created history in Kuwait. The event was the biggest singing competition outside Goa.
Persons instrumental in organizing the event were Agnello Fernandes, Bosco Leitao & Goan Cultural Centre President Shri Carmo Santos.
The mega show held at Khaldiya University Auditorium on 22nd February 2019, gathered some of the best Goan singers in the Gulf to demonstrate their vocal talent. This gave singers and the public a unique, high quality, and unforgettable experience.

A band ensemble with a contingent of musicians led by Kuwait’s Maestro Soccor D’Mello, Fredrico De Mello, Faustino Menezes, and Goa’s Norman Cardozo energized the show with beautiful beats and flowing music. Anthony Azavedo (Goa) - Saxophone, Roswyn Fernandes (Goa) - Drums, Johny Fernandes - Rhythm, Flaviano Furtado - Bass, and Vilma Fernandes - Violin were other members of the band.

I consider this video as a great opportunity for me to honor the legendary Late Chris Perry. When I was in my late teens, he invited me to the HMV studio and asked me to sing 'UGDAS MOZO' composed by him and given to me at the studio...I practiced the song and sung it right there. Amazingly n unexpectedly this song was aired on the All India radio. My brothers (Mendes Brothers) were also given the opportunity to sing the quartet GHEUN NACHOTAM , which Chris Perry had composed and renditioned by my brothers. This song turned out to be a real comedy hit. Thank you Jose Rod for this beautiful video. I pray it will encourage the vast array of musicians and song writers in Goa to make use of their God given talents.. Goans have an unique style of music, which gets ones feet to dance...God richly bless and increase the rich heritage left behind by Late Chris Perry ,to Indians and Goans especially. Viva Goa!
