My goodness, Carreras is not even 30 years old here, with the sweetest, most expressive voice. What a career he has had -- or two careers, as he described after returning to the stage after illness.

Jose Carreras' voice is glorious here. Too bad, Renata Scotto is slightly past her prime and her acting is decidedly old fashioned La Scala. She hardly even looks at Carreras, she so absorbed with staying front and center to the audience and pushing her notes into the house.

agree about scotto. I've seen the whole opera and she was pathetically self-absorbed and centre-claiming throughout. Not to have an interaction on the stage with this fantastic man looked pretty lame on her part
