Gemma Denton - actually they are. The brothers also play Potiphar’s servants with the glasses and the white faces. They also play the Egyptians. In theater its not unusual for actors who aren’t the leads to play multiple roles. There is one brother who is tall with dark skin who sings Benjamin Calypso, he is easier to spot in the multiple roles. If you pay attention you will see him the other extras with him are the other brothers.

Somehow, and I have _no idea_ how, my childhood memories got a little scrambled and the chorus of this song got mixed with the scene from The Neverending Story where Artax sinks into the Swamp of Sadness. Growing up, I was so confused because this music would go through my head and I could never figure out what it was from and why it didn't seem to fit the images in my mind. I had no memory of seeing either movie, and I just thought I was crazy. Turns out my mom used to watch this movie a lot which makes sense because she's obsessed with Donny. Still no idea how Neverending Story got mixed in.

My wife and I saw this in the 90s. I had low expectations for the play and Donnie Osmond but after seeing Donny perform I became a fan of both. Good acting and what a voice. When he sang Close Every Door and hit the notes at the end the audience collectively gasped. I read he upped one of the notes and at one of the performances the director said to not hit that note because Andrew Lloyd Webber would be in the audience and he didn't like his music changed. Donnie performed it anyway and when Andrew came back stage he said to Donnie that is not my note and Donnie said yes he changed it. Andrew said keep it I like it.

Lyrics Joseph's luck was really out His spirit and his fortune low Alone he sat, alone he thought Of happy times he used to know Hey, dreamer, don't be so upset Hey Joseph, you're not beaten yet Go, go go Joseph, you know what they say Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day Don't give up, Joseph, fight till you drop We've read the book, and you come out on top Now, into Joseph's prison cell Were flung two very frightened men We don't think that we will ever See the light of day again Hey, Joseph, help us if you can We've had dreams that we don't understand Both men were servants of Pharaoh the King Both in the doghouse for doing their thing One was a baker, a cook in his prime One was a butler, the Jeeves of his time Tell me of your dreams, my friends And I will tell you what they show Though I cannot guarantee To get it right, I'll have a go First the butler, trembling, took the floor Nervously he spoke of what he saw There I was standing in front of a vine I picked some grapes and I crushed them to wine I gave some to Pharaoh, who drank from my cup I tried to interpret, but I had to give up You will soon be free, my friend So do not worry anymore The King will let you out of here You'll butle as you did before Next the baker rose to tell his dream Hoping it would have a similar theme There I was standing with baskets of bread High in the sky I saw birds overhead Who flew to my basket and ate every slice Now give me the message - like his, would be nice Sad to say your dream is not The kind of dream I'd like to get Pharaoh has it in for you Your execution date is set Don't rely on all I said I saw It's just that I have not been wrong before Go, go, go Joseph, you know what they say Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day Shalala Joseph, you're doing fine You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time Go, go, go Joseph, you know what they say Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day Shalala Joseph, you're doing fine You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go Go, go, go, go, go- Go, go, go Joseph, you know what they say Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day Shalala Joseph, you're doing fine You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time Go, go, go, go- Go, go, go Joseph, you know what they say Hang on now, Joseph, you'll make it some day Shalala Joseph, you're doing fine You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time Ahead of your time Ahead of my time Ahead of your time Ahead of my-- TIME!

I officially have found the latest in a long line of Act One finales that stood out to me in my years of being a musical theatre geek. Dating back to Defying Gravity from Wicked!

The one I really wanted to see is Joseph (for several reasons, one of which is our talented daughter played Benjamin in it years ago. It was already my favourite but that really sealed it). I guess we’re just expected to buy them)

The baker just found out he’s gonna die and then everybody else in 80s clothes just comes out and celebrates Joseph
