I think the hood should have been closed since it looks like it seals to the airbox…more representative of street driving

All of the many intakes I've gotten for my different cars had one thing in common. The manufacturer always advertised a certain amount of horsepower increase just by bolting it on. The problem with this is they always do the test on a Dyno right after installing it. Modern cars have ecus that limit torque to the factory specs. What usually happens when you first install an intake is you will see an increase because the ECU has not adjusted. Once you've driven that car for a few days most intakes will show 0 to very little gains. The only way around this is to get the cartoon to take advantage of the added airflow. In short, dynos that are taken right after installing an intake are bogus to me
@ColabGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the added commentary... Curious if you have tested this on the Macan platform to validate your theory or if this is just a general statement? We did not test this after the ECU would have adjusted its trims to see if your assumption is correct or not. So if you have some added data to share we would welcome that so people of these videos are fulling informed. Our next step a few days later was to add the Cobb Access Port OTS map which does take advantage of the added airflow, more boost pressure, timing, etc...

Were both Dyno runs done with the hood up? Why not do the runs with the hood down for both? More “real world” . . .

You are right but we did the original dyno with hood up so we wanted to match the conditions having the only variable that changed being the filter and box.

Yes, we would like to do more daily driver type videos like this so people can see how these mods improve the performance of their car. As fun as 2000whp GT-Rs are we like to build the family haulers also!
@CarJunkie2 жыл бұрын
I don't see where the new Carbon fiber top would be any benefit. If you don't care about Carbon Fiber bling, couldn't you install new high flow filters and achieve the same result?
@ColabGarage2 жыл бұрын
You are right, very minimal gain by opening the covers all the way up but it does open up additional air flow to the boxes… secondarily, when modifying cars a lot of it is improving the ascetics which these definitely do.

Flat Six says you can wash them in soap and water and let dry for 24 hours before reusing. Or you can have a couple sets to swap out and clean when the other gets dirty, your choice

Do you hear the air intake system louder when your driving? Odes it make a more aggressive sound when you get on it like other intakes?

It does. You can also hear the diverter valves much more as well.

Hello, I am a person in Korea. There's not much information about the debater valve. My car is a 15-year-old Macans. Do I need two deburter valves to fit them? Are the two the same? I'll be waiting for the reply.
@ColabGarage3 жыл бұрын
It is highly recommended to replace the diverted valves once you tune it to avoid part throttle drivability issues. Light throttle and wide open they are not needed unless the boost is turned up to the limits of the turbos.
@warmongerairsoft3 жыл бұрын
Did you guys tune it all all before doing the pulls on the dyno?

We did end up putting a Cobb Access Port on the car but this test was done without any tuning.

I presume that when you carry out these upgrades, the Porsche warranty becomes invalid?
@ColabGarage4 жыл бұрын
That really depends on your local dealer. But typically just changing an air filter will not void your power train warranty.
@sbfhawk43434 жыл бұрын
@@ColabGarage That was my next question as well. I mean I do not want to mess with the warranty but how in the life can a better breathing Air Filter be a detriment to the engine but a plus benefit. Porsche just wants you to keep changing them out so they Charge you$$$..Stupid we know what really works.

Cutting the center out of the stock air filter covers achieves the same thing and saves $200. Or buy spares from Porsche for $80 and cut those.
