Interesting. Can this fully replace the Apple TV remote i terms of voice search for TV Shows and using touch controls for scrubbing through the timeline?

It isn't using Siri so it's a bit different, but I haven't used an Apple TV remote in ages as this gets me what I need!

The time for pro-installed remotes ended 10 years ago. The GPT features are a neat party trick, but why pick up the remote for any of that when Homepod and other always-listening devices will be fully AI-supported by the end of this year?

Been hearing that for years. "Big tech will do xyz by the end of the year..." and then it never happens. Customers are free to choose the best product for them. In this case it's the best, most reliable, and simplest way to easily control the entire home, ask for any question, and deeply integrate with Sonos, Apple TV, Lutron, etc...

I have Josh in my home. Can't I do all this from my Phone?

Yep, phone is great! That said, if you have guests who don't have the Josh app, or if you want a dedicated device in the room to pick up and just use, this gives that experience.

So it's an android powered remote with GPT Installed, I don't see the extra benefits because other assistants can do this.... Hell my Echo device can do this already, what's the real extra this has to offer?

Did you watch the video? Dedicated smart home control including music, tv, lights, shades, etc.

@@joshdotai I can already do more than this remote offers with Homepod and Home Assistant on the back end. And all the same stuff on any screen, whether it's my TV with Apple TV, my iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc. And again, because it's Pro-installed means when someone needs to change their setup, or when the Pro is no longer in business, the customer is f'd. Been through all this BS already supporting customers to transition away from Control 4, Crestron and URC. Before you think I'm talking out my arse, know that I designed essentially this remote back in 2004-2006 - we didn't have an Android back-end to leverage and had to do everything from scratch, so it was a much more difficult struggle. In the end, capital didn't work out and we never came to market.

What is the point of all this when home assistant exists for free?
