I understand Bulls fans being sad to see Caruso go; he is the perfect defensive role-player and would be a starter and basically any team in the NBA. But Giddey, despite the ups and downs of the just-completed season, is still young and refining his game - he can level up for sure. He's actually not a million miles from Caruso in some respects; unselfish, wants to win, a little unfashionable but highly effective in the right context. Giddey needs to be the primary ball-handler for his team; SGA filled that role at OKC and Giddey wasn't able to play his most natural game.

Guys, Caruso/Giddey trade may not be so bad! Giddey: Only 21 and has MUCH room for improvement. For example, already a good playmaker, and can develop a three, can develop an offense, can be a good defender one day, veterans can give him some advice too. Caruso: Is a great teammate and defender, and seems to care a lot about the game and I REALLY respect that! It’s hard to seem him go… But he is pushing 30 and has 1 year left on his contract. I trust that Giddey can become something special, other than him sleeping with minors. He may not be a superstar one day, but could be an important piece to Chicago. I feel delusional as hell saying that, but I believe in him. I hope he grows a lot as a person, and an NBA player. Caruso, I hope you have a great time at OKC. We love you!❤️ Thank you for all.

Not happy about the trade. We’ve seen over the past couple years what teams have won championships. Celtics and nuggets and even contenders like Minnesota have shown that you should have height and have multiple defenders but also multiple offensive players as well with at least 2 stars. Giddey definitely has height and is talented offensively but lacks defense. What makes the trade bad is Caruso is literally the prototype for a player on a championship team. He has offense and defense and has enough height to get by. Caruso is the one player you keep who perfectly compliments Giddey. His defense and Giddey offense would’ve been perfect but now you lose that 2 way player instead.

This front office/ownership mix continues to sell too late and lose trades. AC was our greatest asset due to the value of his contract, we couldn’t get back any picks? Saying that, Josh Giddey is a promising young player that is only 21. He needs to work on his three point shooting, but if he can do that he will be a there tier scorer. Although AK/ME continues to lose trades, hopefully this is a sign of going young and more trades to come. We all love Caruso, but we weren’t going to re-sign him so trading him was the right move.
