God used this song when I was on drugs and my life was messed up. Silent Night would come on the rock station I was listening to and I would weep uncontrollably . Josh Groban's voice remind me of a time in my childhood around Christmas time with my family, and it tears me up especially since both my parents have passed away some years now and my siblings are far apart with their own family and I am alone, Christmas time is always hard for me even now. When I hear him singing it just transcends me back to those happy times when we were all together. Love his music.

I totally get the being alone and at Christmas time, no less. The happiest of times as children-if we were fortunate. I was and it sounds as though you also were. May I say this without sounding, trite" You are not truly alone." Think of the season and what it means-I imagine you have but I should like to share with you, for you touched m heart. We are not ever truly alone. Was that not the true reason for the season? Lean on the Saviour and His birth and His and our Father, who gave His son to us. And think on his family, Mary and Joseph. Being a Mom, I have to say, particularly young Mary. But hey, Joseph- how fine that all was. Go to a Christmas Service. Go to more than one at different churches. It may make you cry and it may let you feel your parent's beside you--just as an example. "Sit" with those feelings. That happens with a family member and deceased parent's and family further away and not well and even more death-of a younger person they were quite close to. Do something to make your house smell good. You do not have to go all out but do something. You are in the position to now "parent" yourself! Try that. Feel what you feel. Sit with it. Let it happen and turn to a friend or a stranger in church. Allow yourself to experience that which you are sad about and fighting against. It will bring you peace if you will come back into yourself and not resist. Have yourself a Merry "Little" Christmas. There are a lot of lonely people and during the holidays it is accentuated. Do something for someone else, anonymously, if you are able. Do a Secret Santa gift for a boy and a girl. Buy a dinner and take it to the local school that may be involved in giving these out to families in need. Extend yourself. I will never forget one particular year back when Thundercats were so popular. My darling daughter was in about 3rd grade or so and we went grocery shopping together and were, at that point, in a position to buy a complete dinner for two families and take them to her school. We also chose a present, brand new, one for a boy-an Official Thundercat that moved, had a light that came on and my daughter loved them(Thundercats-hiooooh!). And for a girl, I picked a beautiful and soft pair of pink footed pajama, like my daughter enjoyed too. We wrapped them nicely and labeled boy and girl. I will never forget being able to do that! We did it more than once but that year were able to do more. And my darling daughter daughter died shortly after Christmas a couple of years ago. I will have those memories for as long as I'm allowed and can remember them. Bless you. Make some plans and be prepared to change if need be. Offer the suffering you feel "up" for someone else's good and well-being. I'm so sorry you feel so badly and I hope in some small way this helps. But sometimes when loved ones have their own families and life to live the values are more for the family at hand & do not include the extended family. But God's glory and the reason for the season the birth of the Saviour always give me a warm feeling that may lead to a few tears trickling down my cheek. I have listened to many renditions of this timeless classic. Sinatra's last recording of this is my personal favorite, but Josh's recording of this song is powerful and wonderous, filled with reverence and more. This is actually the best recording of this song.
