He is in my opinion a true artist on the one hand and a normal guy without all of these capriciousness or moodiness like other artists often have on the other hand. What is also interesting, is his development. I call him an artist because of the development he went through. This is necessarily to mention, because other rock musicians didn't take that way automatically. He created his own certain sound in a time, which was already filled with countless streams and trials of crossover genres. His deep understanding of music combined with his (or their) lyrics gets me each time again. He must love what he is doing and he is authentic with it. That's why I like him so much...and by the way, my wife too;). My English is self made🙈...as you suppose I am a non native speaker. Greetings from Germany.

I’ll reserve my opinion until I hear it, but it’s definitely the first Desert Sessions that the lineup didn’t have me stoked. Admittedly, with each album (with DS and QOTSA) the supporting cast moves further and further away from people whose music I appreciate...though 9 & 10 was still a solid group with Dean Ween and PJ Harvey being especially cool in my opinion. But this one...No Lallis, no Alain, No Goss, No Catching, No Hughes, not even Troy. No Lanegan or Oliveri or Grohl or Hernandez. No Ween or PJ Harvey or Josh Freese Instead we get a sitcom actor, a bunch of musicians who play dance music, and the lead singer of a disco group. It just feels like Josh has completely forgotten all these great musicians that helped him get to where he is now. It’s a far cry from McBain, Bjork, Stahl, and Cameron. Matt Sweeney is the fucking man, Billy Gibbons is cool, and Les Claypool is really good at his instrument (though I find that all his musical projects have a whimsical nature that I find tiresome-even his best material can come off as novelty songs where the joke gets old quickly and rarely warrant repeated listens). Maybe dude from Royal Blood comes up with something cool. I don’t know. It’s just not very inspiring to me. It’s just my opinion, and I don’t claim to be any more “right” in my assertions than anyone else. I just hoped that something with the tradition of the Desert Sessions might be the opportunity to get some new stuff with some of the classic collaborators he’s had...maybe even a couple people from “the desert”. I get moving forward with your music/art, but I can’t believe there’d be a desert session with NONE of the regulars. But I also didn’t think there’d ever be a Queens record that was predominantly dance rock and the guitar tones are obnoxiously thin and lacking any real power or thump. It is what it is, but what it is happens to unfortunately ultimately be unsurprisingly unexciting to me. It’s kinda exactly what I expect at this point. There was a time when QOTSA were the best, most kickass rock band in the fucking world. Now it feels like a vanity project to create the kind of lame overly commercial music that was the butt of the joke on Songs for the Deaf’s radio stations concept.

I absolutely LOVED this guy's music. Then he kicked a woman in the face... the same guy who fired Nick by saying, and I'm quoting Josh, "If you hit a woman, I can't know you man...". I'm glad he's still making music but it's been tough to enjoy Queens. Entertainers do bad shit all the time, "Hell, Vince Neil killed a guy.". Still, a big ass 6'5 dude, who weighs 250, kicking a woman, in her face, onstage in front of everyone (AND on camera), and the hypocrisy of Nick's firing... ugh!!!
@acarlovonsexron19945 жыл бұрын
He didn't know it was a woman when he kicked her camera, if you watch the tape, he was literally in the middle of a guitar solo when he cavalierly threw his leg out there. But isn't that besides the point anyway? He gave a heartfelt apology, and he has a good reputation from everyone around him that actually deals with him. I honestly think he got carried away in a moment onstage, and that's quite a bit different from domestic abuse in Nick's case. However, it should be pointed out that even Nick has been given more forgiveness from Josh by acknowledging that you can be a changed person, than the same credence given to Josh from the public from making an honest mistake. Unfortunately it seems like the court of public opinion is less forgiving than actual courts that have rehabilitated actual murderers.
@CaptainKirkDiggler5 жыл бұрын
@@acarlovonsexron1994 Carlo, or would you prefer Big Baby Duck, I agree with a lot of what you say but, I don't agree with your final statement at all... but you were probably embellishing. And, Josh has a NOTORIOUS reputation as a hothead and a bit of a bully. You know that. He assaulted Blag Dahlia and beat the hell out of him, he called a concertgoer a "faggot" and "dickless turd".... and the list goes on. But, the guy is human and humans fuck up. Now, I saw his apology the day he posted it. I thought he seemed sincere in his apology (which is why people kinda forgave the guy). Still, that doesn't change the fact that he hit a woman. And if he thought it was a dude, it's still unacceptable. And Ive watched the video countless times looking for an excuse (just like you). Just admit his behavior, on many occasions, is completely unacceptable. Still, people can change and I think he realized he needs to change. Hell, he said that in his apology. Long story short, you don't need to make excuses for the guy. We both agree he apologized sincerely. The key was when he acknowledged he needed to change in his apology. Thats the most important thing. Learning from a mistake like that. Lastly, it wasn't because he was playing a solo. I've done the same at large gigs, never kicked a woman in the face. It wasnt the "lighting" either. It was because he was drunk as shit and made a bad choice.
@acarlovonsexron19945 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainKirkDiggler I guess I'm saying forgive him and let it go, or stop coming around at all. Bringing it up every time the guy is doing something in a public capacity isn't forgiving him, it's just poking your finger in the wound. As for his "notorious" reputation, that's from people that know jack shit about him. Sure he's gotten physical with people, but nobody that didn't have it coming. He's ends fights, not starts them. I bet you aren't even aware of why him and Blag got into it. Blag was an enabler to Nick. And after Josh fired Nick, Blag is the one that started stirring the pot and turning friends into enemies. But whatever. And he called a kid a faggot for throwing shit at him... big fucking deal. And people acted like that he was homophobic, as if he didn't name his heavy as rock band Queens to piss off homophobes, or the shit that he dealt with defending his gay brother.
