Songs and performances like this gladden an old guy's heart! I'm 55, and was soooooooo heavily influenced by music that sounded like this in my teen years. But, that said, this is a beautiful love song and poem with a message! It has a freshness of its age! Thanks for a GREAT posting!

I agree with bobliveson and emjsl... I don't know why everyone is so concerned over someone dropping the f-bomb it happens all the time in music, and for that matter just about everywhere in life. i'm sure he's just trying to relate the song to life itself in a way...

i agree the swearing lightens the song up and makes it more causal rather than being just a sad song, one reason why i like aussie music. also kandykitty12 there's a version of this song that says "others" instead of "f***ers"

After playing this amazing song so many times on myspace i also found the "clean" version rather odd.This is how it was written,recorded & meant to be heard.What's the prob?I actually find it extremely hot how Josh uses this word.Should have the (signed copy) of his new album any day now.Although the bulk is on his myspace sit as we speak.Very very talented & dare i say hot man.
@anhedonianepiphany55885 жыл бұрын
Quote: "dare i say hot man" Well, you certainly _did_ dare, and it was inappropriate - even 11 years ago! The entertainment industry as a whole is tragically fixated on sexual desirability, rather than talent. This is essentially why Sia concealed her physical characteristics.
@12ty16 жыл бұрын
I somewhat agree. Thankfully, you can purchase both the 'clean' and 'adult' version of the album, the former of which replaces 'fuckers' with 'others'.
@anhedonianepiphany55885 жыл бұрын
I'd rather have a song the way the writer/composer intended, than some sanitised /altered /adjusted crap. Now, *_that_* would bother me! I trust that the intervening decade has tempered your sensitivity to such common words.

I don't know, I kind of like the swearing inclusion because it's a gentle kind of love song. I don't think it's shocking or put in just for attention, I think it makes it sound realistic and conversational. Most people swear in day to day chat. Maybe I'm odd, I just find it strangely cutesy and charming.
@anhedonianepiphany55885 жыл бұрын
No, you're not "odd" as this is a _normal_ response. Reactionary idiots, and the anally retentive, are simply following the programming that their weak minds accepted unquestioningly. If the problematic word had been a racial slur, for example, it would be an entirely different matter, but "fuckers" is used commonly in Australia.

lol cos this isnt a huge over reaction. singer songwriters have been swearing in their songs for years. songwriters use words to express emotions, feelings and to tell stories, why should they not be allowed to use all words just because a genre of music you dont prefer features bad language. i think its great, adds a level of grit to a seemingly soft and romantic song.

I don't think it's fair to assume that because a song is, as you call it, 'innocent and gentle', that it can't have a swear word in it. The way a song sounds does not necessarily relate to it's lyrics. And why would any self-respecting artists put a swear word into their song just for the hell of it. It's a bit of an insult to say it has no bearing on the song. It's part of the song.

The swearing doesnt ruin anything for me. Its like when Lily Allen swears in her songs. It sounds a tad out of place but just makes it more interesting and have a bit of a twist. To me anyways.
