Outstanding video, I never noticed that ground connection behind the battery. Great walkthrough of the network diagram.

Thank You Josh for all Your help keeping Our Holdens roadworthy. This is Paul with Scottdale with a 2006 silver GTO automatic since new. My latest dash board issue just started last month. The entire red assembly goes dead and comes back on when driving the car. The car still drives OK. I was able to get a brand new dash assembly but maybe I have a bad ground... I will check what You said to look at... Thank You again for helping Us try to keep the Holdens on the road🌞🏜

Awesome. Thanks for taking the time. I am currently trying to undo a bunch of what I call "kid mods" done in a hap hazzard way and this is a big help.

Better have the codes to link the modules together if any one of them fail. Make sure if you are flashing the ECU, PIM etc, use a flash programming power supply or you can brick the ECU and other modules. Ask me how I know.

@@JoshsCarCorner Yeah, the E40 ECUs are harder to find for the 05 GTO and more expensive. Not too sure if the architecture inside any other ECU will work. I heard even the 06 is slightly different from the 05 and probably wouldn't work calibration wise.

i want racing seats but afraid of the airbag fault. Ive research and people say disconnect the battery and remove the yellow and plug it up with the el 46841 part. Will this still throw a airbag code even if i plug it up before i re connect the battery.

As far as the BCM wire rub issue being resolved in the 06 cars, I'd say that's not true. I got my 06 in 2010 and the tape was rubbed through and the brace was just starting to wear on the wire insulation. I wrapped it in a piece of heater hose and I've not yet had any electrical problems. One interesting thing I found with my 06 and using a Tech2: My car has the Holden/GM gauge pod on the top center of the dash. Any functions of the Tech2 which require the CANdi module to be connected to function will NOT function while the dash top gauges are connected to the car. Disconnect the gauge wiring at the gauges and the Tech2 with CANdi work just fine. The CANdi is not required for all Tech2 functions but it is required for a lot of the more complex functions. I almost replaced a perfectly functioning CANdi module before I figured this out!

That's a great bit of info! Must have something to do with with needing an open Class II serial channel for the CANdi, and the center gauges must be occupying it.

I discovered this interesting bit when I bought my 04 last year and plugged in the Tech2 just because and everything worked. Which made me even more confused as to why it didn't always work on the 06. Then someone on LS1GTO mentioned that the dash top gauges might need to be disconnected and I tried it and then the Tech2 worked fully! I guess it kind of makes sense but I would have never thought to try that on my own.

Can you elaborate on the AUX gauge please? I'm wanting to work on a GTO project and looking for all the info I can
@JoshsCarCorner
@JoshsCarCorner Жыл бұрын
It refers to the optional center console pod gauges. One is battery voltage, the other is oil pressure.

how is the wiring harness removed where it goes thru the firewall?
@JoshsCarCorner
@JoshsCarCorner 11 ай бұрын
It can only be removed by taking the firewall out of the car. Otherwise you have to cut the firewall or completely disassemble the fuse block and put it back together.

The PIM? It's not hard to get one, programming it is hard. You need a Tech2 to do it.
