Been watchin your channel for what seems like years now, keep up the good work. One of my favorite GTO specific channels. For whatever reason LS engines in particular are known for failing lifters. That's one of the only major weak points they have in my experience. I have a 06 6 speed myself that is down right now with a spun rod bearing, and I had a failed lifter that wiped a cam lobe years ago whenever I first bought it. Fortunately a failed lifter is just a weekend job if you're taking it slow, bad news is cam might be out of commission as well. May be a good time to freshen up everything from the oil pump up, but you know what you're doing so you already know all this. Could probably relocate that evap valve out the way pretty easy btw.

I love ❤️ my MSD Air Force intake manifold. Yeah it was a little expensive but I bought mines used on E bay. This plus full exhaust and a tune and your instantly at 390+!

That’s exactly how I did my steam ports. And the reason the notch is so wide where the fuel rail sits is so you can turn it the other way to have the fuel inlet on the passenger side. Good video!

You have part numbers for what you used for the steam ports? I have a 2005 GTO with this same intake and want to do the steam ports

HI Josh. Bad break. hard to hear on the video, but it did not sound like a collapsed lifter to me. I don't recall what cam you put in that thing, but my first suspicion would be a rocker. Some guys use the stock arm and press better bearings into them. With the cam I have in mine I went with aluminum rollers - had to put a spacer under the valve covers to make room. One went wrong and I had a similar noise.

Hmmm sounds like there is a worn out cam lobe and lifter on the exhaust side of the number 2 cylinder 🤔

Tough break would have been cool to see a back to back run hopefully you find your issue when you take the heads off. That could explain why it was down in power too.

I had a 2002 Corvette Z06 for about a year. Has the LS6 engine and this car had about 95K miles. I thought that the lifters sounded a bit louder than normal. Pulled the heads, replaced the lifters and put it all back together. Car sounded exactly the same afterwards. Oh Well.

You could try running some SeaFoam through the engine and see if your lifters get quieter.

Subscribed! How did the MSD hold up? I’ve been chasing several issues with mine.

It feels great above 5000RPM, I still need to get all the tuning done, though.

So how much horse power did the MSD make? And why didn't you go with the fast lsxr 102

Get you a mechanics stethoscope see if you can pinpoint it could be a number of things. try a leak down test and check flywheel

Do you have the part numbers for all the steam ports and line you used? I have a 2005 GTO with the same intake and I would like to add the steam ports all around as well.

Josh, do you have subframe connectors and are the needed? Due to the amount of horsepower you’re running?
@tommyspencer78914 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a wise*ss, but did you check the oil level? I had a lifter tick but it was because of a low oil level. The LS2s use oil once they get some mileage on them. I have to add a quart about every 3k.

I changed it a month ago, and checked it a week prior. Level was good.

Can’t you just use the regular 2 port?

What are your cam specs? I installed johnson lifters in mine 2 yrs ago after I had lifter problems.

I have a very hard time believing it’s a lifter. It’s hard to hear it on KZbin obviously, but it seems like a metal vibration. Especially how it wasn’t relative to oil pressure/RPM. I think a metal hose or something is vibrating off of something.

What I have been told is that noisy lifters can be masked by the factory intake because the material is so much thicker and the seals are so much thicker and softer. It could be fine, and I hope it's fine. But after almost 50,000 miles on this build it's not a bad idea in my opinion did go in there and make sure everything is okay.

Did a lifter on mine had a vcm13 cam only deal in there from here in australia. Cyl 1 intake lifter was flat. That intake or any intake is shit. Better off decking your heads. Youll know when your lifter goes motor will have a chirp sound from inside the motor.
@Bwilson-314 жыл бұрын
Ya nobody has ever done this intake on a 2004-2006 GTO 😂😂😂😂

How many have done it with 4 port steam venting? If you know of another, let me know. I'd love to see what others came up with.

Josh's Car Corner Hey 👋🏼 can I have a parts list ? I want to do this too. Since GTO’s are known to run hot 🥵.
