IMHO JHS made it with the Meat and 3 modded Soul food. Cause you get diversity in choices. But again just my opinion. Heck I bought a used home built Meat and 3 pedal and it's never left my board. With a Alchemy modded Blues driver and a Fromel modded bias knob older 3 knob Tube driver. Running the Tube driver at 18v and using a 12au7 (weakest tube) for best stacking results. Lots of different dist/OD/fuzz sounds can be had with this setup. Can get certain sounds for cover band songs to sound close without killing the wallet. Those 3 only cost me just over $300 used and the only other pedal I took a chance on was/is a DS-1 that was fully modded to be the nastiest fuzz I ever heard and it was only $40.

You just gotta love this whole Bad Monkey thing. Josh is right, Supply and Demand. There is no more Supply of Gary Moore Bad Monkeys, so charge whatever you like for it. If someone really wants it they will pay the price, if no one wants it then you still have Gary Moores Bad Monkey. But people PLEASE, that pedal will not suddenly make you Gary Moore!! Any more than it made Gary Moore sound like anyone but Gary Moore.

The Bad Monkey isn't any better of an overdrive than a hundred other budget pedals like the Caline Pure Sky, the Mosky Silver Horse, the TC Zues, the Joyo Tauren, the Joyo Vintage Overdrive, The Tone City Sweet Cream, The Joyo Zip Amp, etc., etc. I can say that with absolute confidence because I own one, and I own most of the pedals he compared it to- and they're not the same drives. I also own most of the budget options I just listed and they're every bit as good as my Bad Monkey. That's why he didn't mind at all showing you that the Bad Monkey had at least one tone in common with his Morning Glory- because he knows that doesn't mean they're the same drive- at all. They have different amounts of gain on tap, a different Eq section which works in a different way, they stack with other pedals differently, react to different pickups differently- and yes, they also have a couple tones in them that are very similar. But I guarantee you Josh isn't sweating whether or not this will kill the sales of his Morning Glory pedal- he knows better, and so should you. Getting mad at Josh is silly- he didn't tell ppl to raise their prices, and he just showed you that budget options are great so- just go buy a different one, you'll be just as impressed- watch.

My guitar buddy who've I played in a cover band with owned a Bad Monkey . I have a Zendrive , Klon KTR and Guv'nor . I can hear when a pedal sounds good . My ole buddy had a killer tone and I noticed the Bad Monkey . At around that same time I saw Phil X on Andertons showing his pedalboard and he had one . Let's be real , the market is OVERSATURATED with overdrive pedals . I wasn't going out of my way to find a Bad Monkey . I just happened to find one in a Cashland (USA loan shop) for $30 . The reason this pedal is the new Klon is because people want to feel part of something . I understand . Players want to pay the pre hyped price but have the current hype pedal LOL . I hope Josh keeps doing videos like the way he has . This should motivate players to find great cheap pedal . Uncle Larry exposed us to 90's Nobels overdrives . Gary Moore exposed Marshall Guv'nor . I think it's fun !!!

There is no hype for the Bad Monkey. Idiots inflated the price in response to the JHS video. It isn't a new find with great tone. It's a copy of a reiterated version of an Ibanez pedal which was a copy of a Maxon pedal. The whole point of Josh's video was to see that response and I think he's got more than he could have predicted. For all we know Josh could have not even used the pedals and just played through a Kemper. The video was made for entertainment purposes so to assume any of it was genuine comparison is silly.

There is nothing wrong with the tubescreamer circuit but with Josh's game we now have a case where people are trying to sell cheap copy pedals for more than the originals. I have an 82' TS9 with the right chip etc and paid just over £100 for it. The Bad Monkey is a knock off that you should be able to walk in to any pawn shop and pick up for £20. So sure, if you paid a pittance for it before the manufactured hype it should be good enough for you. Its a TS clone - it's fine for anyone. But if you're paying an inflated price because of a joke then you are a moron.

I flip gear, and have thousands of dollars worth of pedals, but no Bad Monkey. I recently visited my local mom and pop guitar store, and got into a conversation with one of the shop owners about the tenfold price increase of the Bad Monkey. He told me that they used to stock the Bad Monkey pedal, and that he considered it to be nothing special, he rated it alongside other lower priced pedals, the Boss DS1, etc., and that the Bad Monkey, at the time, was the cheapest DigiTech pedal that they had in stock. I have a few older pedals that I bought cheap and have appreciated in value over the years, including a DS1, a Vox ToneLab LE, an Ibanez TS9, and a A.R.T. Levelar compressor. In light of the recent Bad Monkey craze, I think I'm gonna hang onto my older pedals! I hope Josh gets a good price for his Gary Moore Bad Monkey. Josh is a great salesman, and also an excellent guitar player!

Andy James' Lick Library days he used a Bad Monkey as boost for the Blackstar HT-DISTX pedal with a BOSS NS2, I really like the tone so much back then (and still do), 10 years ago I was fortunate enough to be able to purchased the same setup for a very cheap price and very good condition and I still have it to this day, I even bought the same guitar he's using LTD EC-1000, those Blackstar HT-Pedals are very underrated they're very good in front of a clean channel, just like Josh said be happy on what we have

A couple of years ago I listed on Reverb 2ft of grey speaker cable with a pan jack on each end for £1000. I took a lot of abuse for doing so. And it sold!!. It had been made by Dumble, but it was still about £10 worth of stuff. If you ask, you might get. You never know. In my case it was bought by a guy who had spent probably £100k on his Dumble amp and cab so what's another £1000 for the wire to connect them. If there is a huge Gary Moore collector out there with a ton of cash they might just buy the Bad Monkey! Or they might not lol!!

What the fuck lads? Wasn't the Bad Monkey outed as yet another "best overdrive in history" *years* ago? I can't fathom that people are still mystified by guitar gear, it's just a box of transistors. A great player will sound great with it, a shitty player will sound shitty with it, just like *every other piece of gear* And the fact that it was Gary Moore's shouldn't drive up the price. Maybe if it was Hendrix' pedal with his seed hidden within the transistors it could potentially be a tad more valuable than out of the box, but this particular one is just a used pedal, even if it had Gary's spunk all over the knobs.

I have a Bad Monkey, it's for sure an underrated overdrive weapon in my arsenal. It also works great as a pure boost pedal. I kept it housed underneath a level of my board so nobody could really see what i was using. Mine is still mint condition in the box with all the paperwork. Maybe I should unload it LOL. The reason a lot of celebrities use major brand, generic pedals like the Bad Monkey is because it is generally easy to obtain replacements when on the road. Heck, the basis of Prince's sound was the Boss Metal Zone, and his pedalboard was basically all Boss.
