That's true, but this isn't about İstanbul. You can be scammed by this or other companies in any other airport around the world. Turkish airlines is from a perspective of quality of service better than most if not all of European airlines actually. So, yeah, you can get scammed in Istanbul, but you can be scammed in Paris or Prague as well, which is unfortunate no matter the case.

I am Jordanian, and use Royal Jordanian very often, I can reassure you that you can and will encounter several things on the flight which are not very appealing in terms of universal flight quality/experience standards, generally its a lot of hygienic problems, you can experience extremely filthy tray tables which look like they haven't been cleaned in a while, you can also run into problems with the onboard flight entertainment screens, which for the most part don't even work, depending on the flight you can sometimes witness soap dispensers that don't function or seats that don't adjust. For the most part, Royal Jordanian needs very stark improvements because frankly conditions on flights sometimes endanger the safety of passengers on board, which in my opinion needs to be addressed appropriately and safety measures implemented to provide a quality service which at the moment Royal Jordanian lacks. Hoping to see positive improvements very soon.

We flew from Tel Aviv to Cairo via Amman. We arrived at Cairo, my wife's suitcase did not arrive. We filled out a form with all our details, and waited for someone to contact us. Of course it never happened. Every day, we made sure to contact the airline, via phone and emails, but no answer. They did not answer us, hang up the telephone after long time of waiting, and simply did not feel like working. For 12 days, we took care of buying new things, spent the trip initially at clothing and shoe stores, and paid about $900 for the new things. In any case, we returned to Israel. We tried to contact the airline again, suddenly they answer. Now the funniest part about it, they found the suitcase today and they offered us compensation of $70. Our recommendation is never fly through this company. Because if you're in a situation where you'll have to talk to someone, you'll never find anyone

As someone working check-in at Berlin airport in Germany, people with German nationality (and other nationalities) are required to show proof of a valid health insurance for Dubai. We enforce the entry regulations provided to us by the TIMATIC system provided by the IATA, which provides up to date entry regulations for pretty much every country and every nationality combination you could think about. We don't sell those though - so I totally get it that this looks like a scam - and not providing a receipt might even be a scam. In our company, if a passenger doesn't have it, they have until the check-in closes to sign up for a travel insurance online. If they still can't provide proof then they won't be accepted onto the flight. This is done to prevent INAD passengers (inadmissable passengers) which are unable to enter their destination or transit country because of insufficiant travel documents. They would not be allowed to enter the country and be sent back to the origin country on the next flight - and our company would have to pay a fine for this. So in these times, if you fly some complicated routing like BER-LIS-GIG and you come to us to the check in desk - don't worry that we have to stare at our screen for like 1 or 2 minutes, as we have to read up what requirements you need for transit in Lisbon and to enter Brazil. With COVID those TIMATIC database requests can be veeeeerry long and veeerry specific (Passport validity, visa requirements, COVID vacc./tests, entry statements or passenger locator form etc...) and after we read up on all of this, we will request you to show us that. Some destinations like Dubai even request things like the COVID PCR test result to be printed out - they can't be digital on your phone. Others countries only allow test result with a QR on it.

For the last 25 years or so Royal Jordanian is allowed to fly over Israeli airspace on the way to and from Amman. However due to politics they would never mark Israel, or even Israeli cities like Tel Aviv on the flight map, as can be seen in 21:50.

Scamming of International vistors seems to be a common thing at Turkish airports, they are relying on you not speaking Turkish assuming you won't escalate things or report to police becasue of the hassle involved in trying to report something a foreign language. Some Vodafone reps scammed me at Dalaman Airport this year for two tourist Sims which expired three days after we pirschased them (they're supposed to be 20GB for a month), they basically resold used Sims. By the time the issue occured, we were 125km away in a resort. They assume you won't come back to the Airport until you leave and there won't be time to challenge them on it, but I had to go back after a few days anyway due to a hire car issue as well. Resolving the Car issue was an absolute delight too (#Sarcasm) ... #Turkiye #Turkey

I had a similar experience with British Airlines a couple years ago. When I bought my tickets there was no mention of paying extra for checked in luggage. Mind you this was check in luggage that was per their standard rules and neither was my luggage overweight. On my return journey to the US ( I am a US citizen ) the British Airlines customer service refused to board my check in luggage if I did not pay $100. Needless to say I was shocked and refused to pay . She said ok no problem then we cannot board you either!!!!!!!!! After much back and forth I paid but did not get a receipt which didn't concern me because I could retract that payment by the coverage I get from my Credit Card company. FYI, I was NOT the only one who experienced this. Also this was on my return to US from visiting India in November of 2020. I flew with Royal Jordanian many times in the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's, and in defence of the flight attendants on your Istanbul - Amman flight, I would like to say that it is probably not their lack of concern for passenger safety that contributes to their laxness in enforcing safety regulations but the QUALITY of the passengers which FORCES them to be lax. I love the Middle East and most Middle Eastern people, but, unfortunately, abiding by the rules and following safety instructions is NOT the Middle Easterners' forte. I was on a flight from Amman to Beirut in the 1970's (when the airline was called ALIA) and there was a woman sitting behind me who had simply put her carry-on luggage right next to her aisle seat, IN THE AISLE!! So, the British flight attendant (ALIA employed many European, and specially British, female flight attendants at the time) asked her politely to put the stuff either under the seat in front of her or in the overhead compartment. No matter how much that flight attendant explained the reasons behind her request, that woman would not budge and she simply kept giving examples of all the times when she had been able to put her stuff in the aisle on other ALIA flights (I am sure she was lying). That poor flight attendant was so exasperated that she just walked to the back of the plane, took off her hat and slammed it down on the galley counter, and said, "I am so sick of this". So, for the most part, it really is not the flight attendants' fault for not enforcing the regulations; they simply know that they are not going to be listened to and their instructions are not going to be followed. I am sure that those same flight attendants will do their job much more professionally and thoroughly if they worked for airlines where the majority of the passengers came from countries where people are more law abiding.

Loved it !

The amount of scams are increasing in this country, the government is mainly concerned with safety of the country from outside intruders and protecting against crimes involving drugs and weapons, so that leaves alot more room for people to start scam businesses, "Hire a lawyer to help you with your scam case" is the answer of most people, knowing very well that getting the court involved will take years and waste you more money to file a law suit against these scam businesses. Its better to be careful before paying for anything in this country, poverty is increasing leading to more scams. Yay!

Regarding your travels in economy, we have a saying here in the US: “Some people are just born in a barn.” This reminds me a lot of your Xiamen flight where the whole experience was reckless. Just be thankful that you only had to pay $200 more to sit in that semi-private non-functional business class. Even the backward US airlines don’t have 2-3-2 seating in business! Great review!❤️👍✈️

I've done four long haul segments on RJ's 787. The best I can say is that it's not the worse business class I've been on. But the hard and soft products just aren't good enough IMO. The seat goes flat but it is unreasonably cramped and even less private than the otherwise equally unimpressive Emirates older 777 business seat. The service isn't terrible but is puzzlingly less good than it could and should be. All-in-all, I came away not wanting to fly with them again. The exception would be on price, which was what got me on RJ in the first place; but it would need to be substantially less than other carriers.

I'm sorry I totally disagree with you opinion about Royal Jordanian.... I flew with RJ on 1st and 4th Dec 2021 from DXB - AMM back it was one of the best experience... Checkin, Boarding, Food etc. Everything was the best. I had asked for a Asian Vegetarian Meal and I got what I asked for and it was piping hot and delicious food both ways. Their Checkin procedure at Amman was superfast... Now your query regarding the Insurance.... I remember while booking the ticket at the Booking office the agent clearly told to do it by yourself and there are plenty insurers available online. My experience with RJ was the Best and its one of the safest airline 👍😍

I flew RJ to Erbil Bus Class via Istanbul. The Russians launched cruise missiles and leg 2 was postponed. The RJ solution was to fly me to Erbil and return on the same plane. When I pointed out that I was going on business they showed no interest. Eventually I got 6 hours in Erbil. Would not touch them with a barge pole.

I boarded a flight once with a wall behind me, no window & the luggage bin above me. With my claustrophobia I started to get up & leave the plane before it took off. At that point an announcement was made that the flight was not boarded properly (whatever that meant) & all passengers were told to get off the plane & to board again. I managed to get a emergency row seat which previously was booked for a pilot. When pilot mentioned that I had gotten his favorite seat I yielded it to him & move back one row! We were all very happy.

Once while flying Aeromexico in the 80s, they hit me with some kind of scam where I had to pay $250 just before boarding or they wouldn't let me on. It was from an official ticket agent and had to be in cash dollars or traveler's checks.

Also the food was much better than yours in Economy. Its very bad what happened to Royal Jordanian. It was such a good Airline and now its unfortunately really bad. Seeing a lot comments saying "Hey, I flew with XYZ Airline back in 2014, and they were great". Well, anything over a year is a lifetime in the airline industry. And anyone who's paid attention to even the general news is aware of the turmoil and turnover within the airlines, from poor staffing management on top of a lengthy shutdown due to the pandemic (which is still hanging over us, making it possible that any surge in the COVID numbers could bring about another shutdown at any moment). Point being, the airlines are going through their worst financial crisis in history, so holding them up to their pre-2019 status is like comparing apples to oranges.

I've flown internationally over one hundred times on all kinds of planes with several different companies, and so far Royal Jordanian wins for in-flight pampering and luxury. The flight was affordable, super-friendly and helpful service, the plane was immaculately clean, spacious / beautiful interior even for economy, and to my taste, they served the most delicious in-flight meal. I've been given the run-around by so many different companies for this or that, you gotta walk them through everything and keep at them if you need special service but do it when booking your flight with a company representative either in person, via telephone or online chat, because once you've paid and the deal is done they might deny anything further. In my opinion this video sets a bad example for a really great company.

Most of the time, the reason for a missing window is because it is where two sections of the airplane are connected, here the front and mid sections. For structural integrity, you can’t put a hole for a window there.

Flew Royal Jordanian in Oct-2021. I tried to cancel the tickets a few hours after booking. The website says you get a refund if canceled the same day. This rule though refers to the date/time in Amman. So be careful when you book because if you are in a different time zone it means you do not really have a day to cancel. The flight was from Dubai to Beirut with a stop in Amman. Average airplane and service, awful food. Amman is a nice airport though with great lounges.

Royal Jordanian to me are not the best, but they are decent enough, the crew to me are friendly, i just hope they can improve in the future because Saudia airlines 10 years ago was pretty crap but these days they are really amazing, friendly crew, strict rules to enhance safety especially during COVID so kudos to them they did a fantastic job in bringing the airline up there with the big boys, but it can certainly get better and I hope it will
