China is no antagonist. They genuinely just want the best for Cuba that’s extremely unfairly treated by the U.S. sanctions and a long history of destabilization efforts against the country. China has a pragmatic relationship with the U.S. and it’s mainly the US that seem to hate China (because China is taking over right now, and that is hard for America to accept). China isn’t the ones invading other countries, doing coups and triggering civil wars or starving a whole people for fun. That’s America.

Another odd airline route to consider: Condor Airline's once per week flight between Frankfurt, Germany & Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. Cuba's passenger train system was gifted 80 train coaches by China a year or two ago, but the train tracks are decrepit and must be run at slow speeds to avoid derailment. They had to cancel train service for a while, due to a lack of diesel fuel.

Chinese trains were BOUGHT from China with hard currency about a decade ago, most have now broken down due their poor quality and no arrangements to provide spare parts (which would have to be bought with hard currency as well).

@@tkautzor Trains magazine had an article (within the last 2 years or so) that said that Cuba had just accepted delivery of 80 donated passenger train cars from China. No mention about the locomotives. Could they have been replacements for a previous lot of defective train cars? Could Cuba have paid for new locos and then received 80 train cars as a "free bonus"? This flight used to have a stopover in Canada before Covid. Probably because Canada requires a visa for transit and China has a bad relationship with Canada right now, that's why the flight now has a stop in Madrid.

What a magnificent historical hotel. I stay there every time I go to Havana. One of the last times I was there, my friend and I were climbing the belfry tower in the Hotel Nacional and we ran into Josh there with his friend when he was filming a Cubana A340 flight to Caracas... Josh said he was banned from America (visa application denied). I asked him "why" and he said he didn't know but that it might be because of his filming in Iran....????? We told him to take it as a badge of honor. Josh is really a courageous brave individual. God bless him. Too bad there aren't more people like him instead of fakes like Sam Chui....

Usually agree with your point of view, however, I don't with the statement made in the video that Spanish airlines are amongst the worst in the world. Leisure airlines are just that, leisure. So we need to focus on Iberia and Air Europa. The latter is a mixed bag yet they even operate a B787-9 on the AMSMAD citypair. Iberia's hard product is solid, they've even pioneered the A321 XLR, their MAD hub is a great one (nothing beats all that natural daylight at their MAD T4), onboard movie selection is pretty good and their on time performance is spectacular. Fare wise, they're not the highest nor the lowest and that's where they ought to remain so the value equation isn't altered. The elephant in the room is Spanish crews, they're known for being ill humoured and not customer centric. Having said that, I've encountered some amazing crews when flying Spanish airlines, just like anywhere else. So I'd rate Spanish airlines as average, nice to use if convenience is a factor and the price is ok. Would I go out of my way to fly on one of them?. Certainly not yet I wouldn't do it for any airline.

This flight was previously routed via Montreal before covid, and i believe Air China does Madrid to Sao Paulo as well. I agree we need more 5th freedom routes.

Hi Josh could you kindly review the air India flight from London Gatwick to Kochi cause a lot of people are saying it’s very meh so someone like you could hopefully bring some improvements to the flight, love you’re content as always 😊😊

I had thought when they used to fly Montreal - Havana, it was a great change to the charter/discount Canadian airlines that would charge for everything, such as Transat. I guess the same pros would apply for Canadian tourists heading to Cuba on CA as European tourists doing the same.

Just keep in mind that if you have travelled to Cuba recently, if you need an ESTA to visit the US you will no longer be eligible and would have to apply for a B2 visa which could take months or years to process,

Hi Josh, brauchst du für die Einreise in die USA ein Visum, wenn du einen Stempel von Kuba im Reisepass hast? Oder kannst du trotzdem ESTA nutzen?

Need a visa. The US visa waver program is voided if you go to Cuba, Iran and a couple other countries. Which also complicates it if you're connecting through the US

Er kann es nicht nutzen, er braucht ein Visum fuer die USA. Kanada geht ok. Fuer die meisten geht das Esta eigentlich soweit durch.

Miserable Spanish airlines… I would agree when it comes to Iberia and Vueling, but certainly couldn’t include Air Europa. Had a number of flights (long and short haul) with them and think they are pretty decent. And the award for the worst airline would have to go to TAP…

Air China also used to fly from Montreal to Havana but for some reason it no longer does so, very good price and service, I think the competition took them out of Canada

The other airline flying Havana to Madrid seems to be Spanish based World 2 Fly. Only five aircraft in the fleet, one currently leased out. That might have been a more interesting video.

Great video. Always amazed with all your adventures. I wonder how you are able to get better airfares with Surf shark. I've also been using that VPN for over 4 years but I've never been able to find better deals, and I've tried many locations , I wonder if I'm missing something.

Josh i have been following you for years, i am disappointed that you failed to mention that beautiful Havana is a ghost town with decaying buildings because most Cubans had to leave the island due to a 64+ year of oppressive communist dictatorship. FYI, “the supposed embargo is an excuse of the Cuban government, Cuban can negotiate and trade with any country in the world except the US, and even so Cuba gets most of its remittance from the US and I am sure you saw many US airlines fly to Cuba. The Cuban people benefit very little from tourism? It only feeds the regime. 0:03
