Great vid man, your a legend for sure, good to see guys earning their meat and trophies, Have to say my knees wouldn’t handle that climb though. I’m not a trophy hunter myself, I do it to feed the family real food and I fecking hate seeing animals being left to rot, there’s families out there who can’t afford meat and people are leaving it on the hill. Doc definitely need to look at their policies on this

Hey Josh, I just want to say that this is one of the best hunting videos I have seen in a long time. Really entertaining! Such a good laugh and really good videoing. Your last comments about DOC working with ground hunters during the summer for meat etc is Prime Minister material right there. I would love to see more ground hunters getting up into the mountains on a managed scale. Inspiring stuff. Spot on. Cheers mate

KZbin need to look at how they work out what ads to show. About halfway through the video the ad shown was of what looked like load of underwear models in tweed on a driven shoot somewhere expensive looking. Cutting back to a video of a bloke shitting in the woods was probably not what they expected next to their advert.

Many thanks Josh for your awesome videos. I love the early morning facial expression...Pure Joy... The footage of the scenery is mind boggling and you should receive a commission from Tourism NZ for showing all people not only from around the world, but also here in kiwi land of the "awesomeness" of Aotearoa.. I'm 88 and have never enjoyed such beauty as you have recorded. As far as whirly bird hunters concerned I along with 99.5% of Maori agree with your statement. Let the hunters that do the hard yards do the culling and maybe put the meat on the market. Maybe you should try selling spring water... I hear it's free for the taking. All you need is a bottling plant.. Stewed Thar in Kiwi Bushmans pure spring water. Kia kahe kei te pai ehoa.

Love the video & I would love to have a crack at hunting in the mountains. This is an amazing animal that deserves a great deal of respect. In my opinion, the Himalayan Tahr should be earned & not handed to a hunter on plate. I've never been a fan of heli hunting & think it's lazy & is only justifiable if your disabled. I'm not a trophy hunter & have no desire to fill my house with exotic animal parts from all around the world , but when I watch you blokes working your socks off to get a shot at one of these animals , I think you earned the rite to admire the trophy. Digging the awesomeness dudes, PEACE!

Josh I really enjoyed this movie. I can relate to the sitting in camp yarning instead of out doing it ,been there done it........Put your movie on Graf TV Wild. I see Smithy isn't so camera shy now..hahah...... Those rivers and streams do they have trout ? Thank you kiwi bushman. By the way it doesn't matter how much we complain doc will do what they like, area's of the TeUrewera's are closed to wilderness zones (no fly) and now they 1080 it because animal numbers are excessive. Of course it's the possums they are after????????????

Here in the states there isn't much AA except for wild pig in the south. Might as well shoot clay pigeons in my opinion. That is shooting for the sake of shooting, not for the hunt. The adventure is half the fun, renting a Heli hardly counts.

Hey there Josh. Nice vid mate.Years ago I went hunting Thar around the Mount Cook area - similar terrain. Awesome scenery - scary drops - horizons everywhere and Thar free falling into space - ahh the rashness of youth eh! LOL!.In fact a climbing team had a fatality in the same area we were in.Done some stupid climbs after Chammy as well.Heaps of helicopters then- but just tourists. AATH hunting ( not hunting it's just shooting)is wrong - want to hunt our Alps do it properly-fly in walk up.Years ago the Deer Recovery pressure had the thar and chamois dropping really low down - nailed a few down on the Five Mile on the Coast. Good to see James - back in the day my brother Mark used to work with James and Dave in Deer Recovery in a 500C out of Fox.If you do see James again tell him my brother Mark eventually got his Commercial Rotor Wing Licence. Stay safe and keep your vids coming - Yeharr!

First up, your clips only keep getting better, keep it up. My first two and last two attempts at Tahr hunting were ruined by a douche bag(s) in choppers. it was like they were watching me and every time I selected an animal they would pounce missing out on numerous bulls, in the end I had to shoot a nanny(I couldn't walk away empty handed. I travelled from the Hawkes Bay to give it a crack and was robbed by a chopper shooter BOTH TIMES. needless to say I am not willing to waste the time or the money to be foiled again, I will live vicariously through you and Smitty

I find it somewhat disconcerting that animals are shot and left to rot. Any decent hunter would make sure to retrieve their animals and make good use of them. Don't kill animals only for skins and horns. Take the meat and eat it!!! Ethically, you should not shoot an animal if it cannot retrieve it.
@joshjameskiwibushman

I appreciate your concern and your entitled to your opinion - but if hunters dont shoot these animals the government poisons them with 1080 poison, its a horrible way to die. These animals live in the high alpine environment, it is steep and dangerous terrain and carrying a pack full of meat for hours and hours in terrain such as this just isnt a safe option. The thrill is in the hunt, its good for both physical and mental health and we are doing the environment a huge favour. Cheers

Also AATH should only be used when Tahr have reached problem proportions. As an Australian hunter, from my perspective, AATH diminishes the value of Tahr and has me second guessing whether or not the financial investment required to go to the south island and hunt Tahr is worth it.

Awsome Josh great video mate. Good to see your thoughts on AATH. It's going to take a big voice to get this rubbish sorted out. I currently guide for tahr %100 on foot yet it amazes me the number of clients ( mainly Americans) that are told by certain hunting lodges that it's the only way for people to hunt tahr. Making it known to the US market that it is possible to hunt tahr on foot and that local New Zealand hunters hate AATH will go a long way to helping the situation. Keep up the good work mate. Cheers
