Catch and cook hot smoking fish wild menu selvagem

we go fishing catch and cook then we smoke the pelagic fish known as the kahawai, also some mucking around with the boys fishing on the West Coast of New Zealand South Island with Josh James from Wild Menu

Great video!! Do you catch many salmon over on the west coast? It would be great if you caught a salmon or two on video and did a catch and cook or something. I don't think there's many videos of west coast salmon fishing. Most of the salmon are probably spawned or way up river by now so it might gave to wait till next season.

You can also cold smoke cheese, we do it to cheaper cheese make it a little more tasty, and you can also smoke whole garlic bulbs too which makes for an interesting spin on normal garlic : )

Howsit!? Any wood that hasnt been treated should be fine, i used Cedar, the cold smoking unit on the side is a #smokai but you can just whack a soldering iron in a can of sawdust if your hard up. I use an element in the bottom but will be building a new smoker with a concrete base and a bigger room on top so I can smoke more at once and also make jerky ( have the meat 6 feet above the heat source ) I would reccommend a concrete base if your smoking a lot of meat/fish at once. Cheers

I 'm quite a bit older than you, I have a 6 year old grand daughter and 4 year old grandson,I've started taking them fishing and noticed how proficient your boys are , so I'll expect a bit more from my two. I'd forgotten what my daughter did at that age. Keep up the videos fantastic.
