Would love for Josh to get that opportunity and that bank. But he’s been flourishing in this stand up niche. Late night shows are a grind and tend to cram its hosts into a particular style that restricts and fits certain kinds of comedians over others. Trevor Noah is great but his tenure as the host was just good. With every off camera or behind the scenes vid they do showing him talk off the cuff and suddenly he’s phenomenal again, more comfortable. Same thing with Colbert, pre vs post late night are very different performers. If Josh can get that top spot fuck yeah get it! But I think the style he’s cultivated over the years will get stifled or not fit the late night format.

@hanshandkante50557 ай бұрын
That is not the Dunning-Kruger Effect, that is just simple ignorance and machismo. The Dunning Kruger effect means that the less someone knows about the topic, the more they overestimate their expertise in this area. In other words: The less someone knows about a topic, the more difficult it is for that person to assess their knowledge and the more likely it is that the person will overestimate their knowledge. This was clearly visible during the pandemic - doctors generally spoke very cautiously because they knew that they did not understand the topic in the same way as virologists or epidemiologists. Complete laypeople, on the other hand, believed that they understood every aspect of the pandemic. Ironically, your comment was a perfect example for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
@hanshandkante50557 ай бұрын
@@d_mb The Dunning Kruger Effect is not about SKILLS, but about COMPETENCE. That's not always the same. When social psychologists talk about competence they ALWAYS mean cognitive competence. What does this mean in relation to the Dunning Kruger effect? It is said that the lack of COGNITIVE competence causes people to overestimate their abilities MORE than those who have these cognitive abilities. BUT Dunning and Kruger also found that these individuals assess themselves and others better as they improve their skills through training or practice. But that can't be the case when fighting a gorilla because NO ONE can beat a damn gorilla no matter how hard you train. If you would train these ignorants they would believe EVEN MORE that they can defeat the Gorilla. In other words: the Dunning Kruger Effect can be cured by education, however pure stupidity and inbreeding of american hillbillies over seven generations cannot be cured.

Your style is so natural. You seem like you're flowing so well. You're destined for great things. You remind me of Chapelle, perhaps a lot more modest. I'm really in love with your style. You're not overly aggressive in making jokes. You make it look effortless. I'm really happy that there are comics like yourself. Carry on my wayward son!!!
