I skated down to burnside from the convention center max stop carrying a roll of chicken wire on my shoulder in 91 to put it down for layin better cement than just on top of dirt. As an og west coast scooter kid i can remember the beginning of the skater scooter divide. So skaters were constantly being chased off of BMX parks and they had to make their own parks for skateboarding, and then here comes us scooter kids with our big chunks of metal getting in the way, and accidentally injuring people becaus lets face it, scooters can do some serious damage. I think the resentment among skaters began to build because of "we had to make our own parks to be left alone, so why dont they do the same." Which i think is valid. Still to this day if you show up to certain BMX parks with a skateboard people are going to get upset, so it kind of makes sense that skaters get annoyed when someone shows up to skateparks on a bike or scooter.

Man... "No scooters no bikes" is so freaking cringe. Even if there are people who have built it, its a public place! Make it a damn closed property park where you have to be a skater to enter and nobody will make a sound about it. As a street-park mtb rider this whole thing makes be sick. This whole culture (riding culture) is like a family! And those people are like that one emo-kid who has locked himself in his room and has a "No tresspasing" sign on his door... Appreciate the support man! I think we can all agree that little kids who snake are annoying, and yes most of the time they’re on a scooter. Unfortunately actually scooter riders get a bad rep even though we didnt do anything. Its also important to teach new riders etiquette.. i think people are more patient with young skaters too

As a 33 year old man i was in my mid/late teens when scooters became a thing and it seemed like the only people that picked it up was the kids like 8-13 which knew 0 skatepark etiquette which is why we disliked "scooter kids" not because they rode scooter because they were a danger to themselves and other people. fuck knows why the same kids now just a little older dont like you guys now. where did inline go?
