If you want to play The Nightingale, you can find the sheet music at Deborah Henson-Conant's website, www.hipharp.com/ I did a Harp Tuesday episode on playing the ornaments in The Nightingale: www.harptuesday.com/ep-170-playing-fast-ornaments-featuring-the-nightingale/

Mr. Layne- you don't know how inspiring you are to others, who just want to go play in a field, and let the world go by, while engrossed in making music on such a glorious instrument as the harp. Thank you.

Per suonare così non basta tanta scuola e un buon strumento. Serve un cuore pieno di cose belle e un'anima nobile. benedetta Deborah e benedetto sia tu. ILY.

Thank You Josh, you played it beautifully. Quite a hypnotic piece. DHC’s story about her mother singing to her every night when she was a child. When she she passed away. “Who will sing for the Nightingale”. A truly beautiful composition drives straight to the heart. Thank You for sharing. One of my favourite pieces.

To say "I enjoyed this" doesn't even come close to the extreme pleasure hearing and watching this captivating video gave me. This piece is SO emotive (especially when you know the lyrics and back story) and Josh - you played it with so much feeling. You combined tenderness and lament with rigour and power in a way that was quite breathtaking. The setting was tremendous ... the tree, the strength of that wind blowing all around you was so powerful in every way (I can hardly believe with all that wind that what we heard is the actual sound recording from on site!). You make me want to pick up my harp and head outdoors! Thanks so much for doing this Josh and for sharing it with us :)

Hi, Josh I thought since today is my birthday I will listen to you play the harp for me. As I said you are my favorite harpist and I love your passion for our beautiful instrument. So I will start with this song and go through some of your early songs like the four seasons and there are others I enjoy as well. Today I am just taking it easy. So thank you for playing for my special day. This October 17th is a beautiful day with cool winds and mild sunshine and perfect for the harp. Later i will be playing my beautiful Dusty Strings Ravenna 34. Now it's time for my concert from you. Cheers!

Very nice. Your playing is always beautiful. Josh, can you do a harp Tuesday on comparing Russian harp technique to French and Salzedo? I would really appreciate that since you break things down so clearly when analysing technique.

Josh, you mentioned that you put your recorder inside your harp. Can I ask what recorder you use? Did you put some kind of soft covering on it, so it wouldn't rattle or how did you attach it inside? Thank you. Loved the video.
