Awesome video Josh!! First and foremost, thank you for your service to our country. Your videos are very inspiring. I actually watched most of your videos two Sunday’s ago. I got an opportunity the next morning to take a three day adventure. I took it and had the time of my life. If it hadn’t been for watching your videos the day before I’m certain I would’ve declined the opportunity. Thank you for that. Keep them coming and be safe.

I like how you went full circle with your quote from way back when.. too bad even Steve Jobs couldn't enjoy his boat 'Venus.' On the other hand it sounds like that boat is probably available for sale. 😉 Just a few more subscribers and you might be able to afford it. Haha! Seriously though, glad to see you made it safe and sound across the gulf stream. Enjoy the Bahamas!

You rock Josh. So many reasons, but I'm commenting after just watching you take your IRR oath. Thank you for living the way you're living and sharing the mundane which is amazing for most of us. I especially appreciate the reminder and ancient quote from your earlier video. Keep prompting us and some of us might just start living too. I've always liked the quote I read somewhere that some people die living while most live dying. Go Josh go! Thank you for bringing us along for the journey.

Love how practical and useful these videos are for someone starting or thinking of doing this trip. You tube videos on sailing seem to be morphing these days to more showcase a lifestyle - with little of useful educational elements. All your videos I feel hitting the right balance to show the journey - but show the unexpected things that will hit you. AND how if you want to sail patience and ability to adjust and be creative are a must - else choose to take a plane to get there or drive ! One element that see on many videos to cross the gulf stream to the bahamas is people note help they get from "weather guys" to when to cross and what path is best. However, have not see who they recommend or how to go about. choosing such service. Will be good if cover this for sure.

Congratulations.... on making such a smooth passage from W. Palm to the Bahamas. Can't think of a nicer guy for this journey to go without a hitch. Enjoy the Bahamas, and keep making your videos. Love your philosophy on "living life" before its all over. Been doing it all my life and I'll be reaching 80 yrs old in a few months.....still sailing!

Your sentiment about making your dreams come true while you are on this earth is a good one. My father was a retired Master Sergeant, USAF. He always had dreams, and when we lost him in 2017, I can say he had made all of his dreams come true. I am still working on my dreams, but I have lived in Bermuda, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and many other places. When I want to dream, all I have to do is remember....

Josh, nice video. What method do you use to get the dinghy up onto the deck? For us it's a real challenge. Is that in another episode?
@JoshPostVlogs4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's a real bear to lift the dinghy. I use the main halyard and connect to a bridle I've tied onto the nose of the dinghy. It's a makeshift bridle using ropes to connect to the bow and back through some stern connector holes. But it allows me to pull the dinghy up bow/nose first. I can barely do it myself but it's doable. I've seen some pics online of bridles that make a triangle shape and allow you to pull the dinghy straight up (keeping the dinghy flat/parallel to the water). That may work better but I've never tried that method.
@bdtrap4 жыл бұрын
I use the spinnaker halyard as well. Have used lifts that keep the boat flat and lifts that bring it vertical. I prefer getting the boat vertical before bringing it on deck - makes it easier to handle once on deck and i don't have to clear out a ton of room to move it where I need it. Just my method tho. Both work. If you lift the dinghy flat, you can keep the outboard attached. Bonus. But i typically don't have the space on deck anyway.
@sarahmarievaudrin57904 жыл бұрын
You can always ship to your name via "General Delivery" and pick it up at the local post office with an ID card. People who pick up food packages on long trails use that method all the time. It's good to call the post office ahead of time to make sure they don't have any time line requirements for pick-up, etc. Thank you so much for your videos! Example: Your name USPS General Delivery 555 Post Office Lane Town, FL 55555

One thing that I notice from you is that you often read out the "quotes" (that you find interesting) from "famous" people, and you live your life according to those quotes. Okay, this is just a friendly reminder from me. Those people (authors of those quotes) are/were only human beings. Humans in general can't be fully trusted because they're subject to change (constantly). So please don't take any of those quotes seriously as if they're lighthouses of seamen.
