Great piece of Leclerc's F2 season missed: As his father was dying Charles was in negotiation with (edit) Ferrari for his 2019 seat (edit) and decided to give his old man a parting gift by lying to him and saying that he'd already got the contract. Fortunately a deal was inked not long after but that's a hell of a thing. (Also, his godfather Bianchi died in his major championship debut, then his dad died in his F2 campaign, then one of his closest friends Antoine Hubert died the same weekend he took his first F1 win. Dude has had an absolute emotional rollercoaster.)

Don’t forget. He also saw a horrific crash from Romain Grosjean who is a very good friend of Hubert, and for a moment, we thought that another tragedy will happen and will hit Leclerc hard once again. 11:35 fun fact: Charles actually won the Baku sprint race on track, but had a time penalty that dropped him to P2 after the flag dropped, so on track (not officially in the end but on track) at the very least he clean swept the entire weekend (Pole, FL in both races, feature race win and Sprint race win on track). Charles is also the youngest driver to win the F2 championship in any form it's had (F2, GP2, Formula 3000, or any other names that series has had), taking the title aged 19, a week and a half or so before his 20th birthday

Jules, his father, Anthoine... and yet he still stays strong. And he's got a very good attitude on and off the track. I think he'll be staying with Arrow-McLaren. Rene Rast is rumoured to race in Formula E with McLaren, and only 2 of the 3 IndyCar seats are confirmed, Pato O'ward and Alexander Rossi. Rinus Veekay was rumoured to take the third seat, but he signed a contract with Ed Carpenter. Alex Palou has a deal with the F1 team (most likely as Test/Reserve driver), and one of the reasons he left Chip Gannassi was because he wanted to move back to Europe. It's very unlikely that he'll race in IndyCar. Unless Danny Ric joins IndyCar (and that's also very unlikely), I don't see anyone else who'll get the third Arrow-McLaren seat other than Rosenqvist.

As a massive Verstappen fan and as much as I want him to win a lot, I would absolutely L.O.V.E. to see Charles win the WDC at least once but hopefully more. The guy is just amazing and wonderful, both as a driver and a person. Hopefully Ferrari can get their shiii together and improve their strategies to reduce errors
