That is a bit of an issue... Honestly, Ferrari has the fastest car in the class (even with the BOP), bar none but outside of LeMans.... They have this habit of reseeding into the background (outside of Imola, where I think AF Corse was borrowing the F1 Strategy Team). I am not just dinging Antonio for this, it's the entire factory-team (which gets weird then the Yellow, "customer" 499P does much better). And honestly it's been hard, this year has several new tracks on it (Qatar, the aforementioned Imola, Sao Paulo, & COTA) and Ferrari doesn't do great on new tracks (see Fuji last year) because it's questionable how much they test (if they can at all, again see Fuji). Their is a good chance for the man becoming a world champion, but this habit of just showing up at LeMans and no-where else needs to end for that to happen. The same goes for the rest of the Ferrari AF Corse effort.

@@whitesse13gaming91 Yes, it absolutly was, and by some margin. They had a commanding 1-2 with 2 hours to go. Then the red flag came out, and the FIA decided to add 2 hours onto the race, and because you cant refuel under SC or Red flag (which is a stupid rule) everybody in hypercar, except two porches in about 13th and 14th, who pitted just before the red flag, got a 1 minute + lead, because everyone else had to make a stop under SC, and then another as soon as it ended. The 51 had a 30 second lead over the 50 ferrari, which itself had a 10 second lead over the 99 proton Porsche, and was rapidly pulling away. And the 99 was about to be overtaken by the 2 cadillac, when the 2 rushed the move and crashed, which caused the red flag. Another Italian I think is worthy of a video is of the late Marco Simoncelli. Although his life was cut tragically short at the age of just 24, he is still fondly remembered for his flamboyance on and off the track (he had very long hair for example) and his incredible talent at the controls of MotoGP machinery. He was always spectacular to watch, racing his rivals as hard as Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa did for 6th place at the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix, or Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux did for second place in France 1979. He won lower category races and titles and with his first Poles in MotoGP in 2011, he looked to be a rider on the rise, especially after what turned out to be (officially) his last race, at Phillip Island, Australia, where he finished 2nd (his best career race finish in MotoGP) behind only the eventual champion that year, Casey Stoner. But on 23rd October 2011, just 1 week after Dan Wheldon was killed at the Indycar Finale in Las Vegas, tragedy struck. On lap 2 of the scheduled 13 lap race at Sepang, Malaysia, Simoncelli was running in 4th place as he approached turn 11, but the front wheel momentarily lost contact with the track surface, causing him and his bike to slide wide. As he tried to regain control, his bike then came back across the track, most riders missed him, but Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards weren't so lucky. Rossi and Edwards both ran over Simoncelli, ripping off the latter's helmet and leaving the young Italian sprawled on the track surface between turns 11 and 12. The race was immediately stopped and not restarted. At 4 mins to 5pm local time, it was announced that Simoncelli had succumbed to the severe head, neck and chest injuries sustained in the crash that claimed his life. The MotoGP community were shocked and grief-stricken. One of the sport's biggest characters, just when he looked like he was about to hit the big time, at the round in Australia, he'd been announced as a factory Honda rider for 2012, his talent was snuffed out before it could be fulfilled. The tribute to him at the season Finale in Valencia featured, not a minute's silence, but a minute of noise, mostly with the various bikes in the different classes revving their engines hard as a fitting tribute

That day changed me, i was running as fast as i could to watch the race after church, take the shoes off, switched the TV on Italia 1 and that... I dropped the shoes on the floor and stared at the TV like a deer seeing the lights of the car that inevitably will hit. Damn... You make me cry. After that day i didn't want to go on motorcycles, i don't go to church with the feeling of celebrating something, that accident almost killed the passion of racing (but definitely the passage of live broadcast on TV to Sky that continues to show the races on a delay on Channel 8 has definitely killed the desire to watch the races). I still have the clipping of the weekly with the TV programs. Sunday, October 23. The clipping is on Marco Simoncelli. 85 motorcycles made the "minuto di casino, di rumore" in Valencia. 85... That number became mine while i'm playing: FIFA career 85 on the kit, WRC career 85 if it is available, MotoGP game i stopped at 2010. I'm sorry for the papyrus and for my English

I was kinda rooting for the bloke. He would regularly run in the top 10 at the start of the race then come in for the pitstop. You would see the timer coming up, hoping it would stop somewhere between 3 and 4 seconds, a decent pitstop for Sauber, but no, it kept ticking... and ticking... finally locking in around 10 seconds or so. And so he would once again drop well out of the points. Frustratingly Sauber, to this day, continue to struggle with pitstops. At least Gio tasted glory at Le Mans now.

Yeah I can relate; as an Italian watching the strategies and pit stops they made for him was pain. Like everybody talks about Singapore but he was leading just because they made him stay out way too much hoping for a Safety Car (which eventually came out, just 2 laps after he pitted), they nearly wasted a good point finish. I think he finally ended 9th or 10th by making a great comeback in the last laps. In the end it was a combination of his own inconsistency, very bad strategies and luck and lack of sponsor's money or hype to put him out of F1.

@@Varenijein Eh, to be honest, as iconic as the silver/chrome is (and it was the livery McLaren had when I first started watching F1 when Hamilton was there), I prefer the papaya orange. It's a historic colour for the team, having been used in the 60s and 70s in F1, Can-Am and USAC up until Marlboro started sponsoring the F1 team in 1974 (their previous sponsorship with Yardley retained a strip of papaya with the Yardley colours). Actually, I wouldn't mind the Google Chrome livery McLaren used at Silverstone last year being the main livery, even if I personally prefer the Papaya and blue combo the team had from 2018-'21 (2019 was the best of these, no contest, and I wasn't a fan of the shade of blue used in 2022 and '23).

Honestly, the competition level in F1 has been a joke since the '90s. If you're not at the right team at the right time, you're screwed no matter how good you are. Success in F1 is much, much more about the car and the team than it is the driver. Sportscar racing right now is in a absolute golden age right now for both prototypes and GTs. WEC is probably the toughest competition there is right now (although IMSA isn't far behind.) And LeMans itself is ridiculously hard to win. So WTF happened to Giovinazzi? He went to a much more competitive and difficult series and has done remarkably well in the top class. If people think that's a step down from F1 (i.e. easier), they're not paying attention.

I feel like Giovinazzi got a lot more critisism than he deserved. Yes, he did struggle and his racecraft wasn't perfect. But he did show improvement over his 3 years with Sauber, which, let's not forget, was all this time among the worst 3 Teams, sometimes the slowest. To put that car into Q3 is nothing less than astonishing. I would have loved to see him racing with the new spec, who knows what could have been? Instead, money talked again and the seat went chinese. And although I like Zhou personally and he did show some promise at the start, he is consitently behind Bottas, who for some reason got the second seat at Alfa. And meanwhile, we have people like Lance Stroll in F1 who have not shown a spark of improvement over 7 years... But he did win the 24 hours of LeMans, and that is mighty impressive, given the competition and the prestige of this race. I doubt it, but maybe one day we will see him back in F1. And besides all that, Antonio and Kimi were the most likeable pair on the grid.

I got the biggest smile on my face during the Sean Galael meme, it never gets old, it just doesn't.

Well, he raced in F1 for 3 years as Kimi's team mate - and that is saying something -, and is a 24Hours race winner (very hard to achieve). He is very talented (handsome too..;).

In F1 Gio was at best inoffensive. I don't mean that in a bad way. He was a nice guy, who had moments to shine. The problem was he didn't consistently outshine the car.

It blows my mind that he carried a King Taco sponsorship - can we get a deep dive on why an LA taco shop is so active in motorsport?

Just a disclaimer, rentals arent only the karts like you showed in your video, there are many serious rental events, such as 24h races or world championships, so i really wish you wouldnt disrespect the sport 🙏

haha giovinazzi is the perfect example about why no one takes couch "experts" opinions seriously: Pre-2019: giovinazzi is GOAT, would beat Vettel in equal machinery at Ferrari, because he won a few races in junior formula / F2 2021: givonazzi sucks, couldn't beat a 35+ years old Kimi, and was never good junior formula 2023 after winning Le Mans: giovinazzi is GOAT, why did Sauber fire him, he would beat Leclerc and Sainz at Ferrari

@@louisbeerreviews8964 Yes I had to sit through a company dinner after the 2016 Baku race, where a colleague gave a 10 minute rant how giovinazzi is the next Hamilton (because he won both Baku races). The same colleague in 2019: giovinazzi sucks.
