I once had to deal with a guy who repeatedly ignored the yellow flag, even when I got in his face with the “slow down” sign. Eventually we kicked him off the track, to which he complained to my manager claiming that he is a “semi-professional” racer. Come to find out that this guy actually owns a race car and races at an amateur level. It’s scary to think what people like this can do on an actual full scale track.

Raghunathan, on the other hand, was even more horrendously slow (several seconds slower than Calderon alone in qualifying, and even some F3 cars), seemingly didn't know half the rules, barely knew how to turn the steering wheel and was a safety risk to his fellow racers and stewards (driving at full speed on the cool down lap), racking up enough penalty points to get banned twice.

The comparison with Eddy the Eagle is not fair to Eddy. It is clear Mahaveer doesn't give a shit about the rules, even the most basic ones. Also, he didn't improve at all, which also shows a lack of commitment. At least Eddy bothered to actually try and, you know, train and stuff.

Story time: I know im really late to this video but i only recently saw this So i used to race karts in India with Mahaveer but i was never in the same class as him cuz im around 3/4 years older i think, the weaving i saw in this video is literally the same as during his karting days, i remember on one race weekend he managed to bend 3 different rear axles on his kart ( dont remember if this was across the whole weekend or just during practice). his disregard for the rules doesnt really seem to have changed since karting, he wasnt the best at it but i would assume as he got older he'd learn to obey the rules more but that doesnt seem to be the case. During 2011 in the inaugural Indian F1 GP, the support race was the JK Racing Asia Series! I was like 15 at the time and that was my first ever experience in a F4 car and first time on the circuit (not the best combo)! So i was out and about in the 15min Practice Session trying to get better coz i was clearly the slowest there not ashamed to admit that, and when i get back my dad tells me that Mahaveer took my Driver Pass which has my photo and such on it and tried to get into the Pitlane!!!! I was fined 2500$ for that btw!

Theoretically there are a few good things about being so slow : If it wasn't for those pesky other teams lapping you all the time, you would spend more time on the track and your sponsors get more exposure because spectators now have more time to watch the livery of the car.
