Dear lady from afar. I am in Portland Oregon. I had my ancestors who came by pagan trail to Oregon in 1853. Portland was a backwater settlement with loggers who lived in camps in the forest. Lawlessness was everywhere. Hendricks was the name of the pioneer . He was a preacher who held services , weddings, and funerals. He sang hymns that here we listen now too. All his descendents know these songs. The words are glorious. More than the music.

Just a few days ago I was putting a dog harness on the little dog I take care of during the summertime while his owners are out of the country and I tripped over him and fell and broke my hip and had to have surgery. I have been in a lot of pain and my son turned your old hymn songs on and I can’t tell you what a comfort they are. Thank you for your witness, @Wildflowers. I am so sorry for your fall. I have 3 herniations from shelter dogs pulling. These bumps, bruises and breaks are part of the earthly flesh which will soon be replaced. These are indeed beautiful hymns. Tell everyone you know, Jesus will be here for His Bride very soon. The evils being swept in upon us like a tidal wave are the birth pains foretold in the Gospel. Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

I used to belong to a small Baptist church. We had an organist and a gal that was a missionary play piano. One day I asked them to compile a cassette as they played so beautifully together. As a new Christian it was one of my favorite cassettes. The missionary went back to Chefoo School in Malaysia and came home with cancer and sadly passed away at 43. A generous donor paid for her aunt to go and bring her ill niece home from Mayasia. Sadly only nine years later her aunt was dying of cancer and I played that cassette to her as the Lord was preparing to take her home that night. A number of years back after the passing of one our beloved Pastors, I had that same cassette copied onto a CD and mailed several copies of it along with that Pastors funeral sermon on the missionary to his family. The sermon was about a Princess Has Fallen in Israel. It was a beautiful message for our fallen saints, as our Pastor was surely a faithful servant too. Sad but beautiful memories. There’s nothing in the world like Christian music. As a new Christian I used to say that I loved country music but God put a new song in my heart. Sadly, I am not that new Christian anymore, and my light doesn’t glow like it once did. I don’t know if this song is in your compilation, but one of my favorites is The Love of God is Greater far than tongue or pen could ever tell ......... keep up the good work. May many hearts be open to your beautiful sounds.

Exactly 2months ago, I lost my mother!!! 😭 Losing someone, is one of the hardest thing here on earth but I know sumday we'll see each other again. I don't know how to explain the pain that Im going through, its more than anything painful I've ever felt before. I can say it's the worst pain I've ever had at this point of my life.. Prayer is my armor to ease this battle and with this very calming hymn. I know, God is always in control. This hymn helps me a lot whenever I feel so down and don't know what to do. Despite of everything God is truly so good. He leads me here, to calm myself especially right now that I can't contain this sorrow and pain. I don't know until when this sadness, but one thing is for sure, God is able to carry me through.. I will forever rejoice in the Lord no matter what and even I can't understand anymore what's going on!!!! To God be the glory!!!

The music selection is very soothing and comforting. Old hymns my late mother used to sing during our early morning devotions brings back childhood memories. Like many in the comment section, I am also in the darkest times of my life, and I'm in my mid-40's. I've lost almost everything I have, family members, relationships, jobs, savings. Hi Larry, same here, broke/ smashed to pieces c-4 and c5 in car accident with spinal cord injury, was paralyzed from neck down , cried out to Jesus and he answered! Restored feeling and mobility, surgery by neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon, cervical fusion, the doctors are in awe that I recovered, said it is a miracle! I told them it was Christ! Still suffer from constant discomfort and nagging pain but can function, all praise to Lord Jesus forever!! Hope you are doing well!

I accidentally play this in yutube then suddenly I realize its my bday,..then I continue listenning praying and thanking God for all the blessings had showered to me ,specially my good health, likewise good health for my family,,though a lots of mistakes but still God is always there reminding, teaching and forgiving me always, there maybe a problems but I believe He always giving me the wisdom and knowledge in fixing and every thing going fine,I know I'm no that perfect but hopping,trusting and leanning on Him,my faith is growing and stronger ,,As I go on with another year I entrust my life to you Lord God 🙏🙏🙏 Surely i'll download this on my phone,,thankz for this music🥰🥰🥰 God bless you more...

I dont know most of the songs since I didn't grow up in a church that sings more Gospel hymns (but my parents did). However, I love how soulful hymnals are, it soothes my spirit very well. Aside from its heavenly melody, the lyrics are so romantic (agape) and don't contradict theologically. Many songs nowadays that i can't consider as "worship" because of its lyrics (though i consider them as motivational christian music), but Gospel hymns hit so differently! I hope my generation can realize how majestic and life-transforming hymns are, never boring.
