Kathleen Baylor. True. And me too , I have 10 commandments like all christians and jews. But the ancient biblical month was not of 30 days. It was more complicated (and related to the moon). It was about 28 days. For millennia. So: are you sure you are keeping the real shabbat holy? ------- For me the point is: the Resurrection of Our Lord extends the previous and precious shabbat until the day after the jewish shabbat. This is the most important gift of God for umanity. Without this gift we would be lost !!! From that gift we depends!! That's why the christian shabbat is ... the day after the jewish shabbat: the day of Resurrection, the day of the real rest- cessation - shabbat. The true meaning of shabbat, revealed, at last! ---- Jewish shabbat and Christian shabbat are BOTH gifts from God. It is a good thing to honour the shabbat-preparation day AND THEN the real shabbat, the real rest/cessation (cessation of the division between God and Man!) given by God to humanity.---- It is not a good thing to bring divisions in the followers of Christ. Please work for peace and unity. Please Don't accuse others they have "9 commandments". I myself respect the 10 commandments because every action made by Our Lord Jesus is WORD of God. HE IS the WORD of God. Because He is the Son of God. The Father-Son-Holy Spirit decided to give the cessation-rest (=shabbat) to the human race on Yom Rishon (=the First Day after the previous shabbat). This is very important also because God teaches us how to read the Bible. Jewish shabbat and Christian shabbat are gifts from God. We can celebrate both, if it is possible in our lives. How awesome is our One God who created all things, even man in his own image and it was Very good! God is Love and wants us to seek to choose Him! The Sabbath day was made to pause our own "rituals" and seek to treasure our relationship with God above all! The Pharisees had it all messed up! And if you read the many conflicts Jesus had with them, even about Sabbath, it was because they were missing the love, the big picture for the rules -- God pointing to the coming Yeshua!! The Only way, the Rock to truly fulfill it all (Matt 5-7) So then the Passover Lamb is poured out on Friday, God Himself did it again; that we can now "boast in the cross" (1 Cor 1, Gal 6) Note that Jesus desires us to seek first His Kingdom righteousness that is by faith Phil 3:9 A gift of love and character for the heart that needs not worry anymore about outer foods (Mark 7:19) and special days (Colossians 2:14-16). Its like the Christian under New Covenant has the privilege of taking up cross daily as Sabbath day; even if the principle of resting from physical work for a day may also be healthy. It is a matter on conscience (Rom 14:5) Let us call all to come to JESUS our Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)!! I exhort you to dig through this! Set apart as His child, reconciled by faith in Jesus ..to truly follow rightly because of Love by grace Rom 6. Let the mystery amaze you! Then pass it on! Mercy triumphs! May the Lord bless you!
