So apparently that it is not confirmed, that the song is about an old friend, but some people think this song was referring to Olivia Rodrigo (her co-worker) who used to be dating but he broke up with her because of the age gap. He said, he would wait, until she's 18 and they can date legal but he didn't and is (probably) dating Sabrina Carpenter now (blond hair girl, that is 3 years older than her). I don't know if it's true but it's possible that the rumors and theories are real. They used to be best friends and now everything is awkward between them. He writes songs too and there are a few songs, which could be about her. Btw, Driver's License could be talking about Joshua breaking up with her.
