When pro player misplay, there are 5 different ways to play out where non of them are wrong. Just one is the optimal with the correct prediction. When I misplay, I put Promethean Princess with I:P on the board forgetting I'm locked into fire. We are different....

This aspect is quite popular last decade in poker: Probability based analysis versus game theory analysis (assume opponent always has near the worst case possible given the line you would use) versus reads. - The plays the opponent makes gives also ranges: if he would have , he would or would not have gone for this line etc. So in dominating positions you would play closer to "game theory optimal" (near-worst case analysis; covering off top-decks and certain handtraps like nib), and in more equal situations it is typically better to use probability based analysis (maximize probability of cases you get into winning position). (I haven't watched the video past 5 minutes, I hope to see these points come into play)

@@neusyns You naturally include the possibility of "bluffs" (in whatever context) in whichever analysis you follow. I assume this comment mainly relates to the Game Theoretical optimal play (?). You may misunderstand what I mean with "worst case analysis": this does not just mean "opponent has a godhand", but it looks given the ranges the opponent's hand could be: what line is punished least by what their hand could be. So if opponent is holding a bluff that could be a bigger punish if you would play as if your opponent has e.g. nib or big blow-out card. And given your plays, the range of what their hand could be changes as e.g. it could have been optimal to use a bystial on a tear effect in grave implying that they don't have a bystial. So by the example of in the video: Jesse got punished harder by a bluff than if he would called the bluff (tear) and it wouldn't have been a bluff. So Jesse's choice was not Game Theoretical optimal.

@@neusyns Hani bluffed a Tear card for Reino/Sulliek. If he actually wanted to play around Cryme, he would activate Sulliek with no effect, then activate its effect since Cryme negates only S/T activations (not effects), force Cryme effect on Reino in GY then on his turn summon the Tear card (assuming it was a monster) use Sulliek again on Magna so that he controls no monster and fuse without worrying about being banished since Bystials wouldn't be quick effects (this is with shuffler being unknown at the time before Cryme resolved)

If hani wanted sulliek to resolve, he could've flipped it face up in draw phase, since cryme only negates activations. I don't know if he thought so far ahead "I better keep sulliek face down so I can flip it face up as bait" but him not activating it ahead of time is another indication he didn't actually plan on it resolving
@neusyns

I never thought like that. If I make a call to play around a specific interaction and it turns out they dont have it then I just accept my line. I wouldn't necessarily say my lines are chosen based on what I think my opponent has but rather it's lines I chose based on what I know is most impactful to my hand. Imo it's better to end on a slightly weaker board than to play into handtraps or disruption that I KNOW would shut my turn down Less is more than nothing, basically. I'd rather be able to safely set up a field rather than go all in and then run into something I can't play through
@babrad
@babrad 3 ай бұрын
That play smelled bluff for 1 reason: If they actually had a Tear name, specifically a monster, they would activate Sulliek with no effect, then activate Sulliek effect to send that Cryme cannot negate, force Cryme with Reino's GY effect, then on their turn NS that tear monster, use Sulliek so that they control no monsters and proceed to play normally since the Bystial Magna would get for Jesse wouldn't be a quick effect. While Hani's unknown was what decided the duel, I don't like how underestimated Jesse's position is in this by having a secret Shuffler. He could safely call the bluff to check the identity of the card in Hani's hand, then put Hani into a "normal summon something to walk over Merrli then try to play against my Mudora in GY". But negating there gave Dweller (with no mats) even more value because it could run over Merrli and allow a Tear play with "the tear in hand" during MP2. So in the end negating the activation of Sulliek was a checkmate.

The more I think about it, the more I start leaning towards not using Sulliek being the better play - but maybe I’m missing something. Unless you’re absolutely sure Jesse fires the Cryme when he does, I think guaranteeing retaining the Dweller applies a lot of pressure considering the last card in his hand is Magnamut. If you don’t bluff with the trap, Jesse either plays into Magna anyway in MP2, or retains Merli for Cryme but is left insanely vulnerable. Hani could use Magna to summon itself then search + summon Druis in the end phase (playing around Cryme pitch a tear name / shuffler removing targets by doing so with Dweller’s lingering effect still active) and threaten a boardstate that is any 700atk body away from an unpreventable lethal. The only thing that stops that is Jesse’s unknown (it’s Keldo, but Hani doesn’t know this) being a Bystial to bodyblock with - but even that turns off Cryme, which opens up a line to make Beatrice to force out the last shuffler in grave whilst retaining a material for the turn after. If you don’t retain Dweller, Hani doesn’t have a live draw to get the required 2400 damage on board for lethal - so Jesse basically guarantees a turn thanks to his 3 disruptions, and either forces Hani to run himself out of interactions by baiting Cryme, or threatens to make a Cryme-insulated push the turn after with any tear name off the top. But with Dweller on field, Jesse probably has to Cryme the Magna to not risk losing to any ishizu / tear name / bystial (tribute over Dweller just about does it) - at which point Hani is the one who is greatly favoured in a top deck war. If Hani had the read that Jesse was always biting there, it’s a genius play. If he was purely gambling, I think it might have been quite punishable.
@Rojo9149
@Rojo9149 3 ай бұрын
Well another side is that, if Hani doesn't flip Sulliek, and Jesse just goes to MP2 and passes like Josh is suggesting, Cryme on end phase magna probably still hard stops you, and puts your at a disadvantage even on the draw. You have one topdeck and a 1700/ no mat dweller to lethal Jesse over Saronir and a mystery card before he gets to play again, or to put yourself far enough ahead that you don't die, and that's a gamble in and of itself. You suggested that Hani is favored in a topdeck war, but not only does Saronir push (a negligible amount of)damage that could put Hani on a timer, but Jesse would be in a situation where any monster in the deck plus Saronir would potentially represent lethal through the Dharc > elf > merrli line. Hani is more limited on what one card he could draw that pushes lethal or even regains control over Saronir with just dweller, being mostly limited to just Merrli, Reino, or another Bystial. And he already has a card in hand, which based on the deck and the fact that he didn't activate it, we can fairly safely assume to be a monster of *some* kind. I think if he doesn't gamble on flipping Sulliek and psyching Jesse out, he's gambling on drawing well enough that he can combo after getting his mag Crymed in EP, or that if that doesn't happen then on the pass back that neither of the two cards that would be in Jesse's hand represent a monster of any kind.

@@Rojo9149 you do not magna there in that case. just bp kill merly. cryme is now dead, so you magna and crash into saronir. he would now have whatever he top decked + a bystial + sulliek vs jesses set cryme, keldo in hand and whatever jesse top decks. he is massively favored here.

18:14 you cannot cryme the reino in the gy because literally every single Tear Card has a gy effect, so in the scenario where hani has a Tear Card He can 100% for Sure Chainblock the reino.
