I was under the impression you can already do the location walk around with VR Scouting in Unreal and a VR headset without having to leave your home. I haven't personally tried it yet, but I'm excited to Experiment soon as I have several VR headsets

Great demo! Cool product. Trying the free version. Have Autoshot plugin installed properly in Blender and everything with the image plane and material seems to work properly but I'm not seeing the Autoshot node tree when I open the compositor. Just the regular Render Layers node. Anyone else having this issue?

Very cool, thanks for the detailed **giggle** walkthrough... I really like this approach.. when it comes to physical location scouting, do you have a recommendation for an app or tool that would be best to quickly capture a location during a recce? I am thinking it could be useful for documentaries and site specific videos of a factory for example to rapidly capture the 3D environment and then be able to plan out shots after the fact, and then return to it with a solid shot list that is based on recce + virtual production plan. thanks

The tracking seemed jumpy - almost low frame rate. Wouldn't that transfer over to the path traced version later on making it unusable for the final shot? Or is there some kind of smoothing filter that can be applied that would make it look natural and very believable?
@JoshuaMKerr11 ай бұрын
The tracking was fine. The shots were handheld so the footage is quite jittery. better to use a gimbal or mount it on a rig to avoid that. You wouldn't get better tracking from a phone, but as I say the developers have some interesting tricks for the future.

@eliotmack11 ай бұрын
Yes -- I do most of my testing with a 12 Pro Max. Jetset works with earlier non-LiDAR phones, but the LiDAR is a huge help for tracking and lets you do 3D scans of the location which is extremely helpful for post production work. The newer phones have better GPUs and cooling, though.

It's a pro tool. So unless you'd use it regularly, you probably just want to buy when you're in production. Edit: Yes, as Eliot says, it does have a free version. The paid options open up a lot more features for professionals, but it's great that it can be used by anyone for tracking.
@eliotmack11 ай бұрын
The Jetset base version is free, and can record full camera tracks that our Autoshot post system can then convert into Blender, Unreal, After Effects, C4D, etc.

@@eliotmack When I hit save and run in Autoshot, Blender opens with the footage I shot and the tracked camera. But the background (x wing trench run) doesn't load with it. Am I missing something? Is this only available with the paid version?
