This liner / gospel style drunnung has become so popular. But it seems like everyone sounds the same. It was unique in the beginning. But nothing really to separate one from another. You hear one gospel style drummer from another with both having the same amount of experience in liner or gospel drumming. They all sound the same. It's like doing a drum solo threw the whole tune. We all have other members in the band that we need to hear. So I find that other members are getting drownd out. Don't get me wrong. I love the style of drumming. It just seems like some of these guys solo threw the entire show. Every single song. My point is nothing sounds special. We all wait for the climax or the ultimate ending to a show. U know, something to make it exstrordanary. Anyway I love liner or gospel style drumming. I personally just think we can't for get the rest.

So if you're referring to this particular performance as drowning out the other musicians, you're completely forgetting one thing....Allow me to educate you a bit if you don't mind: When drummers get together and/or musicians in general, as asked to do a solo performance with a track, it is showcasing that individual musician. Hence, there are no rules!! it's all fun and games for one to fully Express him or herself to uplift and inspire this particular audience. If you listen to the albums that a lot these guys are on including my lil bro Jossiah, They are very professiona, diciplinedl and well polished. A lot of what you hear from this video is hardly ever played throughout the entire song..unless ofcourse the artist and/or Music Director request it. People seem to think that Gospel drumming is easy and that it's just linear time, but there is a lot that's going on rhythmically and polyrhythmically that meets the ears. I sincerely think that its pure envy..I mean think about it..no one ever talks about how linear and lack of dynamics rock music is? That's not all rock music.. but yea..its extremely linear...!!!!! And alot of those guys all sound the same especially the metal guys with all the blast beats which I personally am a fan of. So, I say all this to say, different styles cause for a different approach! This is the evolution of what Gospel Drumming has become. I hope this helps you better understand. Thanks for reading You Rock!! 😎😎
