Guys i wanna clear this up in his defense... He had to change his solo because the things he was gonna use for his turn didnt get shipped to him like his spds pad... So he winged it.... He did well... Dont judge wat he did wrong... My bro killed for a wing it.... At least he made it to the finals.. So dont judge wat he did cause at least he was able to gt this experience.. And better yet... He will gt noticed because he made it that far

No Octopad says this drummer has musical integrity and is a man of principle. He sacrificed a win for stating that drums are a rhythm instrument designed with the intention of keeping time as priority one. His performance was a COMPOSITION that moved its theme poetically from point A to point B, never letting you forget its origin. It was a refreshing change from the urge to display in a mating ritual. You could build a melody arrangement around his performance. You can't do that with most Drum Off performances.
@DanLoFat9 жыл бұрын
+Walter Alter His origin was Krupa, then when he went for the cowbell, all manner of composition went out the window - all chops,that is it.

His drum solo is way more taste full than the guy who won.This is why the guitar center drum offs suck ass...like Ive said before it's not about being the best drummer in these competitions. It's about who looks the most like Thomas Pridgen...that helps you win I guess.
@kolebrown613210 жыл бұрын
If this were a true statement the better drummer in 11 Fred Boswell Jr would have won which he should have
@jordansmith475810 жыл бұрын
The guy who won was more musical in different ways the this guy......... and that's how to the drum off..... u gotta bring chops but u still have to be musical

WOAH, ummm, he would have WON if he had incorporated the octapad. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT
@tztazzy10210 жыл бұрын
lol what? im suprised he even made it into the finals. This isnt a chops competition lots of drummers can do machine gun rolls.
@Neeko_Z10 жыл бұрын
True true... Everyone is machine gunning it... But compared to the winner, in my opinion, I thought he was a tadddd more musical (and that with no octapad needless to say) he played a little more disciplined and I felt some more passion. But yea, overall the competition is more about being a show off, which is great! If you can at the same time be Musical
@nikolalakic905810 жыл бұрын
Neeko Z The octapad kinda kills it for me really. Call me old school, but I much prefer when they don't use it. Sometimes it's really cool sure, but overall I much prefer when its just pure drumming like this! Props to everyone who uses it well though haha
@abrahamiglesias116010 жыл бұрын
You don't need an octapad to be an amazing drummer. The octapad to me seems like people NEED to have some type of musical melody or harmony to run through their head in order to finish the phrasing that their performing. I just think that the drummers who don't use an octapad are more creative than to rely on an electronic device. And yeah, people are looking for drummers to play and look like Thomas pridgen. I completely agree with that. Though there's nothing wrong with pridgen but when I hear him play or watch him play, it's like trying to cram everything into a solo.

Pretty good but I saw a lot of repetitive strokes kind of rephrased on the kit over and over. And he seemed a tad slow for his age and the single stick rolls seemed struggly...I of course couldn't play this well to save my life but I know what I like.

@FONO6310 жыл бұрын
Oli4drums Of course you can! I may have fraised it in the wrong way. I meant musicality. For me this drum solo is just chops over chops, a bit of more groove is needed.
@Oli4drums10 жыл бұрын
Ah, sorry man. Yeah I get that, although Guitar Center is known for being popular with drummers who love to show off chops and stick tricks. It's a drum solo I guess so being flashy isn't out of place.

Ya,really. I believe that the 5 Drum Off finalist should be the best. 3 of the 5,are not even close. There was 4 guys at the first round Drum Off that I was at, that just blew most of these guys away. I think the Drum Off judging is a little off this year,starting with the preliminary start of the competition. Meaning,the judges are hacks,most of them probably aren't even drummers.
