I was completely captivated by Joss Stone's mesmerising performance, the first time I heard her sing this in front of Bacharach. She even had a thumbs up from the man himself, and we know that he was a difficult person to please, if you were singing one of his songs.

Back in November 2015, i was half asleep on my living room sofa (with some light TV voice on), when this exact performance was played as part of some late night music program on BBC. This gentle / heart touching performance woke me up completely, and made me so fresh, that i enjoyed remaining song with full heartiest dedication. Been looking for this one since 9 years now. Glad i found it. Master piece, that shakes the strings of your heart.

I had not heard this song until watching the BBC 2 tribute shows to Burt Bacharach last weekend. What a beautifully sung version by Joss Stone which is one of the best performances by a singer i have ever heard with beauty, elegance, perfect arrangement and delivery like so many of Burt's creations.

@@lisahopkins-wt8tr Being an older person that grew up hearing the original Gene Pitney version as well as all of the Hal David lyrics, I think I understand. In this video, I found her beauty to be a bit queer, which leads me to think she is singing about another woman, that's off-putting, I found her voice too soft approaching the note changes as she seemed to ease into pitch. Her vocal softness I found restraining and failing to explore the emotion of the lyrics, perhaps you as a member of the lesbian community find her attractive and that distorts an honest review from you. Watch again with your eyes closed.....
