I want to like Joss Stone but she covers way too many songs that were already made great by the original artists. Joss Stone reminds me of a female Robin Thicke. She's like a karaoke singer who sings everybody else's songs. Of course the songs sounds good because she is picking out songs that were already jams by the original artists. If you already have a good song with great music all you do is add a half way decent voice and it's easy to pull it off.

Disagree. Do you know she has like 5 full LP's with her own music? And many, many more songs of her own released. Covers are just a small piece of her discography. Appreciate the fact that she is mostly covering old, sometimes forgotten songs. She gives them second life, many ppl will check the original ones, even if just out of curiosity ;) And many original performers like her versions of their songs.

@@ultrafjolet I guess I really just never liked her voice. It has too much of a twang in it for me. I know she apparently sings a lot of R&B songs but her songs are not played on R&B radio stations probably due to the country twang in her voice. Not sure what genre she's listed under country, rock or alternative. I tried to Google her to see if she's listed as country or R&B. They mentioned her being blue eyed soul singer but her songs are not played on R&B radio like Teena Marie is played. Teena Marie had a beautiful soulful voice and could sing any and everything.

@@MIMI88998899 You have a right not to like her voice, of course. Is it that important what genere her music or voice is? To me she is a soul singer, but you can call her a pop singer as well. Joss sounds good in everything to me, I'm so sad that I can't link you her Total World Tour jamms (she did a tour where she played a gig in every country on the planet and made a musical collab with a local Artist or Band) - no matter if it was a collab in Zimbabwe, Armenia, South Korea or Columbia, her voice was fitting. But it's only my opinion, I understand that to you she may sound the opposite way :)

uh, why this sing? She could have picked any average motown/soul song from the past to treat this way. This chi lites song is special, it's a great song. She's done nothing for it. Music is pretty flat and uninteresting, vocal is full of the tired, lame affectation of so many mediocre singers.

That's seems to be all Joss Stone does is go through the R&B catalog of songs and covers them. To me that doesn't make her an original artist more like a karaoke singer. Real singers write their own songs and/or have original songs written for them. They don't cover 95 % of other people's songs.
