She is an old soul! If I close my eyes I would swear I was listing to singer from Motown (im not even old enough for Motown but I LOVE that era, and when she first came out b4 we visually saw her her we thought she was black girl, but regardless, she doesn’t sound her AGE … her voice, her her strength, the inflections …. It’s truly a GIFT …. To have passion & Talent from so young .. to move all AGES & RACES of people from everywhere!!!! She along w/ Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney, Leela James, are some of my MOST FAVORITE newer (post Motown) singers that I could listen to for DAYS & DAY …. A cappella or acoustic! THANK YOU for sharing your gift to the rest of the world! 💘

I was shopping the other day, and I heard this song. I was stopped in my tracks, I went home searching for this song under Jennifer Hudson. I was so sure it was her and finally I searched "The Love We Had Stays on My Mind". I have to be honest, I passed over this artist over and over because I did not expect this sultry voice to be coming from a blonde, but finally I played her version. Surprisingly, this was the song! Go white girl, and say this with lots of smiles and love!!! You have a new fan.

Joss Stone has always been an amazing singer. How could anyone not like this? She can sing her ass off.

If you think Joss Stone is amazing, I recommend that you spend a little time listening to Marvin Junior and the Dells ... they will take you to another world ...

DJ Agent Double O Soul I've listened to them as well. my parents had those records. and my compliment to Joss Stone was not to take away from the original artists of this song. A lot of you have too many issues and hang ups. this young woman is talented and I was clearly speaking of her vocal ability/ talent.

6/8/24: OMG..didn't know my girl sang this song. Joss is just one of the baddest singers out there. She should be up there w/Taylor Swift, Beyonce and them, cuz she is a way more soulful, better singer.

Lately baby, I've been thinking Ultimamente baby, eu tenho pensado How good it was when you were here Como era bom quando você estava aqui And it ain't the wine that I been drinking E não é o vinho que estou bebendo For once I feel my head is clear Por um instante eu sinto que minha cabeça está limpa But early this morning, when I opened my eyes Mas cedo esta manhã, quando eu abri os olhos That old lonesome feeling took me by surprise Aquele velho solitário sentimento me pegou de surpresa I guess you meant more than I realized Eu acho que você significou mais do que pensava The love we had stays on my mind O amor que tivemos continua em minha mente The love we had stays on my mind O amor que tivemos continua em minha mente And boy, I've been remembering E cara, eu tenho lembrado The good times that we used to share Os bons momentos que nós costumávamos dividir My thoughts of you don't have an ending Meus pensamentos em relação a você não tem fim And memories of you are everywhere E lembranças suas estão em todos os lugares But why should I tell you, it's not your concern Mas porque eu deveria te dizer? Não é da sua conta You win some, you lose some Você ganha alguns, você perde alguns Well I've lost and I've learned Bem eu tenho perdido e aprendido It's just that I'm so lonely É que eu estou tão sozinha With no place to turn Sem lugar pra ir And here at the end, I find E aqui no final eu achei The love we had... stays on my mind O amor que tivemos ... continua em minha mente Boy, if you were nearer If you had a mirror Cara se você estivesse mais perto, se você tivesse um espelho Maybe you could count my tears Talvez você pudesse contar minhas lágrimas And if you were nearer It would all be clearer E se você estivesse mais perto isso tudo poderia estar mais claro How I wish that you were here Como queria que você estivesse aqui How I wish that you were here Como queria que você estivesse aqui How I wish that you were here Como queria que você estivesse aqui And baby boy I was just so tired E baby eu só estava cansada So I laid down to dream while Então eu deitei pra sonhar um pouco Lately I've been so uninspired Ultimamente eu tenho estado tão desinspirada Without the comfort of your smile Sem o conforto do seu sorriso But I'm not complaining Mas não estou reclamando Cuz that's how it goes Porque é como tem que ser There's always some heartache Sempre há algum tipo de mágoa In this world I suppose Nesse mundo eu acho But you can't imagine Mas você não pode imaginar But nobody knows Mas ninguém sabe The love we had stays on my mind O amor que tivemos continua em minha mente The love we had stays on my mind O amor que tivemos continua em minha mente

Nowadays, nearly every modern white singer is labelled a "soul singer", from Jesse J to Adele. Really?! The exception to these imitators is the wondrous Joss Stone. I've been a massive soul fan for over 40 years and have rarely heard a more soulful voice than hers. Makes one proud to come from the South-West of England! I love the Dells original of this, but Joss's version is right up there. She's a gem.
