This video is a finger in the eye to all of those haters who say technical guys like Jost and Thomas Lang can't also groove. I'd love to see more videos like this from the monster players of our day, of straight up rocking/funking out to songs I can tap my foot to. Huh? I couldn’t think of two drummers with more opposing styles / approaches. Jost for me is 100% groove-oriented, and as such, one of my favourite drummers. Thomas, well, let’s just say he’s certainly one of the most advanced drummers today in terms of technique ... just not at all my cup of tea.

Jost is great! He reminds me of a German Christopher Walken. That shaking rack tom is driving me crazy. It's time to go back to toms mounted on the bass drum. That happened to me a few weeks ago on a gig. The drum riser was a little shaky and my toms and cymbals were moving around like that. Not good...
