It’s amazing how much these early Christian teachings have influenced me to this day, I remember waking up every single Sunday morning and watching JOT,!as a child learning so much.

When I lived in New Orleans, sometimes they would put a JOT episode in the midst of the "Popeye and Pals" show on Channel 4(WWL).

Lo recuerdo con mucha nostalgia. Lo veía en 1979 ó 1980 en la casa de un vecino donde a los niños del vecindario nos permitían ver televisión. En español se llamaba "Puntito". Realmente excelente. I remember this cartoon with nostalgia. I watched it in 1979/1980 in a neighbor´s house where a family used to let us to watch tv. In Spanish it was called "Puntito" (Little Dot). Really great!

JOT Box 341, Ft. Worth Texas 76116 "I know you'll like them. He, he, he." I can't remember the name of someone I met yesterday, but that address is stuck in my head.

Oh, so THAT'S what the "surprise" was. I'd see the address on the tv screen at the end of an episode while Jot informed us that we could send a postcard or letter there and receive a surprise in return. Jot was an excellent little animated series which encouraged good behavior and taught Christian values to kids without being overly preachy. Thanks for the info !

Wow. I used to watch this show on Sunday Morning. I believe it came on before “The MULL SINGING CONVENTION “. As a kid, I’d watch both. For some reason , something reminded me of JOT, so I came here. Thanks for sharing this.😁

This was originally a production of the Southern Baptist Radio and Television Commission that was located in Fort Worth Texas from 1953 till the late 80's. It was the brainchild of its former director Dr. Paul M. Stevens who took the small organization from a one hour radio program in Atlanta called The Baptist Hour, to the largest religious radio and television network in the world at that time. Initially the commission's only offering was "The Baptist Hour," but Stevens was an innovator in developing programs designed to appeal to non-Christian audiences. Those programs -- "Powerline," "CountryCrossroads" and "Master Control" -- are still core offerings today, airing free of charge on more than 1,500 stations around the country.

I just remember that growing up in upstate NY in the 70's, this was the only cartoon on Sunday mornings. Being Jewish, I somehow never associated it with the Bible though watching it today I don't know how I didn't figure that out!

@somerandomuser34652 ай бұрын
Um no? I don't think you should always obey your parents. The actual lesson should just be to wash your hands. But otherwise how would they add god and say that you would go to hell or whatever if you don't wash your hands just to make the kids who watch this feel shitty about themselves. This might be the worst lesson from the show

I gotta get an emoticon with Jot's expression at 0:26 -- priceless. X-) In fact, a batch of Jot emoticons would be pretty sweet. Jot: the proto-emoticon. And on therapy... disobeying your good, godly parents and looking like a muddy slob is considered mentally healthy? No wonder this world is all goofed up.

My dad says he remembers being two years old hoping a good cartoon would come on. Then this would come on and he'd rip his hair out. Then after this, it would be "Simon In The Land of Chalk Drawings". He'd rip more hair out. By the end of the day he'd be bald.
