The fact that he was invited on American Bandstand speaks volumes to Dick Clark… Sylvester is iconic and has paved the way for so many people who are in the entertainment industry today.

In his own way he quietly supported LGBTQ Rights. When American Bandstand was still broadcasted in Philadelphia, alot of the kids who danced on the Show were gay. Arlene Sullivan a Former Dance Regular wrote a Book called Badnstand Diaries The Philadelphia Years 1956-1963. She was Gay as well. Also Philadelphia, PA had a strong LGBT History.

Gospel background. The UP beat, open hi-hat in Disco is the clapping done in Gospel, with a Funk foundation of repition on the one, over and over again, for eternity. Think about that. That's how profound Disco was and still is, forevermore. Don't ever let anyone dismiss the genre as something unworthy of praise and respect. We had Donna and Sylvester to lay it down and bring it for all time... like you should!

~ R.I.P. to our Icons, Sylvester and Patrick Cowley. Two Tons O'Fun and Sylvester were so wonderful, and the energy is still palpable in any club or disco in 2019. R.I.P. Liberace, Rudolph Nureyev, & Freddie Mercury as well. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~

Awesome to find this clip on KZbin, + to know that there are still other Sylvester fans around! With due respect to all performers, don’t think anyone can top his “Living Proof” album ENTIRE cut of “You Are My Friend” including his narrative tribute to Two Tons of Fun🎈 How sad he had to leave us so soon😰

I remember watching this on the front porch on a 13in tv with my grandmother. She kept telling me Sylvester was my cousin. I don't know if it's true or not but I always have that memory of that day.

Love San Fran. Born in NY, moved to LA, spent a lot of time in San Fran. My family felt like Sylvester. Loved the restaurants. In the 70s and 80$, my family wore the sheol out of restaurant row in LA, so we'd have to go to San Fran. Fun Ee

I am floored, amazed to finally see some has gotten so much " lost" history" together. Sylvester has Been a light I'm my life, "Sylvester:Interview" from 'Rainbows I Remember" c.jAnthony Perez (a compilation of 10 existing editions of The Aloha Times / c. 1978) - In the early 2000's I created a Nightclub , Cabaret, Bistro in a Sputhern California Desert City, Indio. I'd hoped to create a Cabaret Musical production 'Sylvester!', yet magic, is a hard thing to reproduce. That word defines Sylvester, Two TONS of Fun! The time of our lives. Some years after our Hawaii interview, I attended a Dreamland ( S.F. Disco, early - mid 1980's ) Sylvester glided down a Staircase at one end of the stage and club, there, he forever remains. My last Sylvester attendance was the saddest for me. His 'wake' at the S.F. Galleria, was also the last wake for me. Done with ' class ' his costuj3s floating on clouds. Dancing through the tears more like it, a very hard moment. Sylvester? Thank you. To those behind this project my compliments, thank you. - jAnthony Perez is jesusAntonio d'Perez y'Garcia in a word Magic! Magicpropertiesre.com
