Good info. As a consumer of more than 40 years, I would like to offer this observation. Many news stories, especially those written in the past decade, sound like a cheesy novel. If it sounds like "a dark and stormy night" and I am unable to get the story up front . . . first paragraph . . . it is history. I want to know what I am reading about immediately or I will move on. Remember, if I want to read fiction, I will get a book. If I am reading the news, please give me news.

This is something everyone can agree on. It’s so annoying for a news story to just fluff the article with unimportant, unrelated bs. Like just get to the point already.

Thanks for the valuable information. Difficulties arise as the unbiased narrator when reporting on personal experiences involving strong emotional responses. Maintaining objectivity with Self is often a challenge, yes? Thanks again.

Very helpful - but I have a question. Can you give an example of an interesting lead, that is still totally objective? In the age of click-bait, it seems like leads have to suggest something controversial or slanted. A lot of click-bait leads include questions that the reader would hypothetically seek answers to in the article, but those answers are seldom found, or the reality is somewhere in the middle. Can leads today still be objective if we want readers to actually look at our articles?

Thanks for this! If you record any new lectures, I suggest recording with Loom so we can see you as well as the presentation.

Wow, This is very helpful. I am a hard person to teach but yet you make it sound so simple and give great examples. I am going to need all the help i can get. I am starting a Masters in Journalism program at Harvard in a few month. Needless to say I am pleased to see this content. Are there any more videos like this?

What is the difference between your living room chat with a guest and being a panelist in a seminar? In your living room, you present your personal opinion based on facts and nobody can dent that. As a panelist you keep your pragmatic speech being politically correct. Because there you working for another organization. Same here, a decent journalist knows well how and where to distinguish but corrupted and coward society can not digest that.

@Diez Communications this is very unkind and diareapectdul of this man. Please remember that what goes around comes around, and that there are PLENTY of people out there who could embarrass and humiliate anyone of us st any time, and it would feel horrible! Kimdness is so much better. Sometimes holding the tongue is the kindest thing.
