Journey to Crown King - Backway Alternate Route

I have been wanting to try the famous “Backway to Crown King” off-road trail but was put off by two significant obstacles for which there is no bypass. Specifically, there is a mining claim that diverts a section of the trail into a very challenging creek bed. Then, there is a ledge of some considerable height coming out of the creek bed that I wasn’t sure my stock Jeep could overcome safely. Recently, a friend passed along a GPX file of a route to Crown King which completely goes around those obstacles and seemed like a great route to try. A few days ago a friend and I joined the Desert Edge 4x4 Club as we tackled this “Alternate Back Way to Crown King” and it was a blast. It was nearly 12 hours round trip due to starting from the Boulder OHV area, but I’d do it again. As soon as I’m ready to get my nice clean Jeep very dirty once more.
