Journey to Lembah Harau Payakumbang Sumatra Barat

Located in western Sumatra, Lembah Harau is known for its granite rock formation.
There were archeology studies conducted in 1980. The study team from Germany indicated that the flat area around the rock was originally seabed. They believed there were breaking of rocky land that separated rock and river in the area. They found rock on the land similar to the rock formation that was found under the sea.
However, some other studies also speculated that the rock formation happened when the rocky land emerged and rised from under the sea. This phenomena happened thousand of years ago.
There are seven waterfalls appearing from above the rock where there are breaking points of rock and river. The area has strong echo when load sound is directed towards the rock formation. The length of the rock formation is about 15km. There were several earthquakes in the past but the area remained unaffected.
