Don't go to NIT for high salary, you can earn a hell a lot of money by selling pani puri as well. Go to NIT to learn and make contacts with elite students and faculty. Your 12th marks or even a gap year won't matter if you learn new skills. The worst case scenario is you won't get placement from the college because of 60% HSC eligibility, so set your priorities. Don't go to NIT for good salary, go there to get an experience.

Yes, some universities allow BCA and MCA even you are from art background, you can search on internet. Generally most of the universities ask Maths in class 12th so even you are from commerce or arts background but you have Maths in class 12th you are eligible for BCA and MCA.
