As much as I enjoyed his self-styled name of Handsome Monkey King, I do think Sun Wukong is a better name. I like the meaning behind the name too, which I never knew before.

Yeah, every character had multiple titles that carried different meanings and thoughts behind them. It's honestly the joy of introducing new characters in every chapter!

Hmm seems conflicting that in the last chapter, wukong as knowledgeable enough to know Huang Ting is a true classic of something something, but here he’s too “dim witted” to be aware of 7 years passing.

That's a very interesting observation lol one reason might be that in the mountains when you are really focused on cultivation you simply lose track of time in general. There is no more celebration of holidays and you slowly grow numb to the changing of seasons. So it's totally possible that he simply lost track coz it wasn't on his mind. Or, he was just being polite and humble and pretended he doesn't know.

I’ve heard it’s very common in people who meditate often to loose sense of time during the process what feels like minutes could actually be hours
