Mark says Yes. We follow different people's fascinating journeys to Yes and self-determination for Scotland. Londoner and businessman Mark followed Scotland's first independence debate closely and had been inspired by the Yes campaign with its progressive and inclusive values. After the Brexit result, Mark was impressed by Scotland's pro-EU vote and the Scottish Government's handling of events. In November 2016 Mark sold his London home and moved with business and family to set-up in Scotland and join the Yes campaign. Mark reflects on the UK Government's handling of Brexit and Scotland's huge potential as an enlightened, open and independent nation.

I welcome any poor soul south of the border to make a home in Scotland away from Westminster - grab the chance if you have got it. Don't let it slip through your fingers. Oh, yes, and I am glad you are welcomed here, Mark. Thank you for taking the time to take part in this video. :-)

Your promise was not matched by Yes lsst time, by the White Paper. Your Yes White Paper converted me TO NO for exactly that reason. Welcome was not given to actual Scots, the first generation diaspora, the offspring, born in diaspora, to our economic emigrants who thenselves were supposed to be a Yes issue. I sawJim Sillars tell a big Yes meeting he wanted them filtered for skills the same as other immigrants, Pat Kane told me he would be fiirst to call any further openness wrong, Angus Macneil told the Sunday Post he did not regard them as Scots, Alex Neil told another Yes meeting that refusability of parental descent citizenship was to keep out "undesirables", which will obviously in practice mean the poor. This resulted in my "No to a New Clearances" campaign in the borders, + my EU petition 1448/2014 which remains a legal resource for anyone to cite + use. It cites the EU, from the human rights law of ECHR article 8, to have to disown shun + sanction us as an international pariah racist state + have no dealings with us at all. What will change that? What will take away this dire picture + make you right? Just to succeed in making Yes say ONE WORD! Make Yes bind our state in its founding red lines of human rights, where it will be constitutional, where it will be FIXED BEFORE WE VOTE NOT AFTER, that - citzenship by parental descent will be UNREFUSABLE.

My favourite video in this series. If only all Scots shared the forward looking, aspirational vision of the future that Mark has our small nation would be a giant. One of the reasons I have always been in favour of Independence is that I see too many of my fellow Scots worn down by the UK system and believing far too little of themselves and their neighbours. We, collectively, have no comprehension just how lucky we are to live in Scotland; a country with immense resources and social attitudes towards education (the foundation of it all), health care & social justice that are matched in only a few places around the world. Not to forget to mention that our scenery is stunning!

Wee Alba Book, newly published by the Alba Party, 9-22, given out at demos. p55 " The plans for how to manage Scottish citizenship were set out at the last ref and still apply. Anyone born in Scotland or born to Scottish parents or grandparents will have an automatic right to citizenship, as will people resident at the time of independence." Claiming this was the position in the last ref is of course spin lies. Salmond himself would not say this position to me as a caller on his last ref phone-in. The White Paper and Yes policy last time, which the SNP has still never budged from, was a racist shocker appealing to the same type of nasty anti-outsider voters as Brexit. It made citizenship by descent refusable, it made citizenships by birth or residence conditional on preexisting British citizenship. But that history only matters to defending that I + we were right to vote No because of it. Even if Salmond was not saying the right position then, his party is now. This new booklet corrects the citizenship policy + states the perfect line on it. But it states it just for the Alba Party. So does the Yes movement agree with it? Do the other indy parties agree with it?
