Neal is a Rock legend and one of the best guitarists to ever grace planet earth. That being said, this song doesn’t do much for me. It just sounds like a cookie cutter journey song. It sounds like they’re trying to recapture past glory instead of trying to do something different. I like let it rain. That’s my favorite track so far. We’ll see what the rest of the album offers. They sound phenomenal live. Saw them in Atlanta 2 weeks ago and it was one of my top two journey performances I’ve seen ever. My favorite post journey song by either Journey or Steve Perry is Sun shines Gray by Steve Perry. It sounds like a tune that could’ve been off of evolution but modern. Either way I’m excited to see what the rest of the album sounds like.

I feel like in recent years Arnel has struggled with the stratospheric highs. But that said he'll be a better singer on his worst day than most singers including me will be on their best, haha. Steve Perry is just impossible to match, but I give Arnel all the credit for coming damn close! So given the difficulties Arnel's had (though no fault of his own - time and age are just a drag and you'd have to be some kind of freak to be able to do it your whole life! Even Steve P can't sing like he used to be able to) I kinda like the fact that Journey seems to be tailoring their newer originals to Arnel's strengths in his vocal range "The Way We used to Be" as well as this new one are very much in his sweet spot as a singer! Keep it up guys! And of course N. Schon is just a freaking god on guitar.
