My wife was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer on Valentines Day of this year. Throughout the battle since, this song and others like it (many from Steve and Journey as well) have taken on truly epic meaning. Experiencing pain and suffering isn't the worse this world has to offer. Watching the person you would gladly die for a thousand times over suffer is. This song, delivered by Steve's heaven sent voice, and backed by Neil's piercing yet soulful riffs, keeps me focused on the bond my wife and I share that transcends, and will ultimately outlast, the pain. I recently read an article about this video/song. The band was not sold on this song, they felt it was too " Sugary " Steve was very pro doing this ballad. I am so glad Steve did this beautiful performance and he was right ! This song spent 4 weeks at number one for Journey! They were also nominated for a Grammy for this song. Freddie Mercury will always be number one..saw Queen in 1977, but Steve Perry is the closest anyone will ever get to Freddie. Great vocalists that have perfect use of their diaphragm and can carry those long notes, if you really listen they don't take breathes like most artists. His ideas, creativity, not to mention that awesome Voice, led JOURNEY to the top with HITS. He vowed to never come back to the dogs. Neal should’ve had the band take a hiatus anyway & admitted himself that he was on cocaine back then. Steve came back recently on his own terms, only after finding his love for Music again, after promising his Beloved Kelly(RIP) that he wouldn’t isolate himself again.

It’s September 2022. I love Steve Perry’s voice throughout the years as a soloist and with Journey. His voice is just phenomenal. No disrespect to previous or current lead singers for Journey. Journey was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Steve Perry has a wonderful voice, but He chose to leave the band Journey for Very personal reasons. ( Jimmy Jamison) the front runner for the band Survivor also had a Beautiful voice, He and the band Survivor were never inducted into the Hall of Fame..At least Steve is still alive to do His Solos and make Folk's happy with His powerful voice. Jimmy Jamison died at age 63 back in 2014 but His voice will never be forgotten. ( The Search is over) a beautiful song by Survivor, ( Jimmy Jamison who not only had a beautiful voice as did Steve , Jimmy Jamison turned a lot of heads from every age group as did Steve Perry.
