That's is an exceptional characteristic of the baye faal - love service wisdom which is very fundamental in islam.. but their spiritual believe is heavily infiltrated by certain extremists amongst them who claims special spiritual powers thus heavily tarnishing their sufi methodology with extremist ideas which do not have basis in islam.. many things they do or claim are as result of such extremism of certain individual claiming to poses certain spiritual powers and then fabricating or innovating in their believe or in their sufi way.. Sifism is a special powerful spirituality that none can reach GOD without it but extremism in it which has no islamic basis is the extreme danger or catastrophe.. now this what one needs to be careful of.

But as a Murid, disciple of Sheykh Ahmadu Bamba and living in Senegal, I can tell you that there are a lot of things in this video that are wrong (not everything) and are giving a bad image of Muridism in the muslim community, those things are not part of muridism since they’re not part of Islam. Muridism, Baye Fallism are nothing but Islam with nothing more and nothing less.. The Sheykh himself always said to be the “Slave of God and servant of Prophet Muhammad PBUH”. His way is Sharia and Haqiiqa by following Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah PBUH. Apart of those things, scientifically, there are false informations given in this video and I will take only one of them: the Magal is not for celebrating the Sheykh’s return from exile. The Grand Magal is the recognition of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba going into exile (which is a trial from Allaah to the Sheikh [“Do the people think that they will be left to say, ‘We believe’ and they will not be tried?" QURAN 29:2]). So please when you have to do a documentary like this, go and see Muridism authorities, you’ll have all the documentation you need which I REPEAT is nothing but Islam ONLY. Because giving wrong information, giving a bad image about the Sheikh, about Muridism or Baye Fallism is a harm to the Sheikh, his legacy, the Murid community and all the Muslim’s community

How come persons that are following Imaam Maalik in fiqh are called malikis and same for other fiqh schools without dividing the religion? Things are simple that are only names but their practices has authentic sources and they are all part of Ahl Sunnah wal Jamaaha since muriid tiijaan etc. are all following Imaam Ashari in aqiida, Imaam Maalik in fiqh and Imaam Junayd in tassawuf. Things are very simple just some research and you’ll find that they’re all following Qraan, Sunnah and Ijmaah.

To my knowledge Baye Fall are the followers of a nobleman called Ibrahima Fall, who was a disciple of a prominent sufi scholar called Ahmadou Bamba. Sufism is an esoteric/mystical version of Islam. Essetially there was a form of sufism called Tijaniyya that originated in North Africa then spread to West Africa. In Senegal, followers of Tijaniyya sufism became called the Mouride brotherhood and they developed their own sects by following different scholars mainly Ahmadou Bamba or others like Abdoulaye Niasse, and their disciples. This all happened between 18th-20th centuries. Although sufism itself is much older than that, and spread all over the muslim world.

Unfortunately, the Baye Faal are Sufis and MAJORITY of their teachings are not from The Quran and Sunnah such as (Female Singers, Not Fasting or Praying because they have been guaranteed Paradise, Giving Hadiya to their Serigns etc) They are beautiful people but if they call themselves Muslims, they have to stick to the teaching of The Quran and Sunnah. Im Gambian/Senegalese and my parents always told me that being Baye Fall is bad, but after learning more it just makes so much more sense to me. It is more beneficial to work for your community than to just do rakat after rakat, that is true devotion. It's easy to just pray, but to do, to work for the sake of Allah is much better. I've watched so many people that say "I pray 5 times a day, i fast 2 extra days so im a good muslim" yet at the same time they're greedy, selfish, and judgmental. I always thought wouldn't god love it more if i work and struggle for my community rather than just bow my head on the floor?

Did the Arab come to Senegal or did Islam spread naturally to the area? Yes Arabs enslaved Africans but even other Africans enslaved Africans. The French wanted to bring their culture of Christianity and all the baggage that came with that. Islam spread to Senegal naturally because it is the true complete way of life and it lifted the Pagan Animist out of ignorance and into the true religion. I understand their love and respect they have for Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, but I wish they didnt give him so much attention to him more than they do with Nabi Muhammad Salallahu Alihi wa Salam to be honest. The fact that they have his picture near the madjid and his pic on their necks as necklaces and on their waist screaming shirk to me..Yes he is an important figure, but Rassulullah deserves more attention because Islam is under his authourity. Why was the man praying in front of the Cheikh’s picture? It’s taghut and forbidden in Islam. I like their form of communal spirituality though, and the Cheikh’s resistance of colonialism. May Allah guide us and save us from the entrapments of bid’ah

They follow their own version of Islam. No different from Sufis, who also have their own highly esteemed Cheikhs. All over the Muslim world there are shrines and graves of 'holy men' and teachers who are reveared as though they were divine. I am not a Muslim but i have discovered this through self education.

That's is an exceptional characteristic of the baye faal - love service wisdom which is very fundamental in islam.. but their spiritual believe is heavily infiltrated by certain extremists amongst them who claims special spiritual powers thus heavily tarnishing their sufi methodology with extremist ideas which do not have basis in islam.. many things they do or claim are as result of such extremism of certain individual claiming to poses certain spiritual powers and then fabricating or innovating in their believe or in their sufi way.. Sifism is a special powerful spirituality that none can reach GOD without it but extremism in it which has no islamic basis is the extreme danger or catastrophe.. now this what one needs to be careful of.
